AIBU to want to know if they’re ok?

(A bit of a tenuous aibu but I’m hoping someone on here might know!)

I saw a nasty car accident today. Only one car involved. It was their fault, no one else’s. We were driving in a different lane and would’ve caused a bigger accident trying to pull across lanes to try and help (busy A road) so I called the police in the hope that they would at least get the help they needed quickly.
They took my name and address at the end of the call (I assume in case I was hoax calling?). Will they let me know whether the people in the car were ok or is that wishful thinking with an already overstretched police force?
I think there was someone in the back which made me think it might be a child and I’d really like to know that they were ok.x

They likely won’t let you know. Name and address is in case they need more details as you are a witness. If you have your incident number why not ring 101 and ask if they can give you an update as you are worried?

That’s not a bad idea. I’ll try phoning in the morning x
