To not want to go ice skating in these circumstances?

Am currently in the last six weeks of training for a marathon. It's not my first and I'm training for a specific time. I've pretty much given up my whole life for the past four months to get to this point and so far I've been injury free. This is the final push with the highest volume of running in the next two weeks.

My legs hurt, I'm exhausted, today is my first rest day since Monday. I'm terrified of getting injured - even just falling awkwardly or turning over on my ankle.

My friends say I'm being ridiculous and a let down. AIBU not to go ice skating today?

You don't need to ask, you're a grown adult who gets to choose whether they go ice skating or not.

Your friends probably don't appreciate how you feel, just tell them you're not going.

Yes and no. On one hand you could go out for a run tomorrow, fall awkwardly and injure yourself and bam no marathon. I don't think ice skating will put you at anymore of a risk than running will.

On the other hand I do understand that you need a break and if you ache already then absolutely fair enough to give it a miss. There's nothing wrong with being risk averse.
