We watched a creepy tv programme about realistic sex robots the other night. As we were just going to sleep last night my 'd'h said " I would make the more realistic though. I would make them really sexy and up for it about , lets say, a month or so. Then I would make them to start moaning about the washing up, etc and not having any sex!!!!!"
Could you please help me vocalise , why this is a shitty sexist thing to say ?

I think he was joking???

UgandanKnuckles · 15/02/2018 09:27
Hmm
ShowMePotatoSalad · 15/02/2018 09:29

I don't even understand what it was he said!

NotASingleFuckToGive · 15/02/2018 09:31
Hmm
imnotwaving · 15/02/2018 09:32

Is that face for him or me?

MoistCantaloupe · 15/02/2018 09:34

I don't think he would sell many of those.

FlyingElbows · 15/02/2018 09:34

I don't think it's a shitty sexist thing to say, I think it's a tongue in cheek comment on what lots of people find happens in relationships. He was trying to be funny. Maybe he should look for one that also angles for a fight rather than just saying "shut up you knob" Wink

JeReviens · 15/02/2018 09:36

Gosh you sound fun OP. Your poor DH Sad

DailyMailcanfuckthefuckoff · 15/02/2018 09:42

I get it, OP. It's a boring, overdone stereotype, and it also sounds like a passive-aggressive dig at you. I'd be annoyed too.

OrigamiOverload · 15/02/2018 09:44

Umm, I do understand why the OP finds that offensive. He’s saying the reason any man chooses a partner is to use for sex but then the poor man ends up tricked into being with a moaning cow.

Only you know your DH though OP, if my DH said this it would be a poor attempt at humour and I would probably have turned it around on him and had a jokey dig back about me needing a sex robot who also runs the hoover around without being asked. If your DH has form for sexist comments then I can see that you might find this remark difficult to see the funny side of.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 15/02/2018 09:44

He was kidding. It sounds like it touched a nerve, though.

imnotwaving · 15/02/2018 09:45

FlyingElbows your comment made me laugh ! I think I need to send a apology text don't I.

iklboo · 15/02/2018 09:48

'Don't you mean the sex bot ends up getting a rampant rabbit after a month because she's sick of pretending two thrusts & a squirt is mind shattering orgasmic sex?' Grin

BeHappyMummy · 15/02/2018 09:50

He could have joked about something else. There's a reason why he made this particular joke and I would worry what was goinv on in his subconscious.

BeHappyMummy · 15/02/2018 09:51

Sonit's ok to make a sexist joke but if it were racist it wouldn't be ok?

imnotwaving · 15/02/2018 09:56

See, that's what I thought BeHappyMummy. Maybe I was just seeing to much into it. He said it a was a clumsy way of poking fun at the men buying them, that they have probably never had a real relationship in their whole lives! ... I said he needs to stop digging Smile

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 15/02/2018 09:57

Yes, it was a shitty sexist thing to say. Poor dh my arse, getting called on his sexist shite, poor wee thing.

borderline11 · 15/02/2018 10:02

Just sounds like normal husband and wife banter, If i took offence at everything my dh has said to me over the years we'd be divorced. But i give back as good. You've got to have a laugh haven't you. Grin

donquixotedelamancha · 15/02/2018 10:04

I think I need to send a apology text don't I.

No. Explain that his comments are supporting The Patriarchy and by attempting to joke he is Oppressing you. How dare he assume a level of intimacy where he can gently tease you, just because you are married?

Tell him he must never tease you or tell jokes again in your presence. Send him to MN to learn why all humour is offensive.

There's a reason why he made this particular joke and I would worry what was goinv on in his subconscious.

Yes, all humour is grounded in absolute reality and must be what people really think. He is building a sex robot. LTB.

UgandanKnuckles · 15/02/2018 10:07

It's a (shit) joke. Roll your eyes and move on.

to be be angry about a fuckin sex robot !!
Redpony1 · 15/02/2018 10:23

It's not sexist, it's tongue in cheek. People have zero sense of humour, he doesn't need pulling up on it at all! Jeeeez, get a grip.

Married3Children · 15/02/2018 10:27

Nope sorry I would NOT send him a text to apologise.
His comment was sexist and was basically saying that all women aren’t up for sex and are using excuses such as the washing up.
He is also making a point that women ought to be ‘sexy’. Andnthat most women are avoiding having sex with their partner. All deeply rooted sexist assumptions that yes, are going round, and shouod not be accepted imo.
(The fact it riles you tells me you aren’t ready to accept those ideas either btw()

So yeah, I’m sure it was banter to him. The sort of banger deeply rooted in sexism but surely, as a woman, you should accept it no? Because if you cant take banter in a relationship, why do you bother?
(Fwiw Trump jr said something along those lines about women who just shouldnt work if they can’t take ‘banter’ from men in the office. Nit much different than home isn’t it?)
But it was just a bit of fun and we, women, should just RELAX Hmm

DoormatBob · 15/02/2018 10:39

If you don't like lazy overused sexist stereotypes keep away from the Feminism board on here!

OutyMcOutface · 15/02/2018 11:26

He was just making a joke.

celinequeen · 15/02/2018 11:52

Ffs. Get a grip.
