A fantastic resource

Why would I send a copy to my child's school, she isn't transgender?
The issue here is that you assume the rights given to the hypothetically transgender child are all about them - extra support, ensuring they are called what they want to be, stamping out on bullying. But it’s not - it will include giving the trans child the right to be in spaces previously reserved for single sexes - sports teams, toilets, changing rooms, school trips. Individual pupils may well prefer to use a “third” facility eg a disabled loo, but if they want to use the girls’ toilets they are to be allowed to, and if your daughter has a problem with that she needs to go elsewhere. That is what is currently the case in schools. This document sugggests continuing to protect the rights of all students not only the transgender ones.

Sorry - I reported by mistake. Please blame general poorliness and raging temperature.

I mistakenly thought that it was just a TRA OP cutting and pasting some trans bollocks. I felt that we had had a rash of these popping up and I was just frustrated.

I am fully behind any effort to debunk the TRA propaganda.

CallYourDadYoureInACult · 14/02/2018 10:24

And Luxury nice to see a fellow murderino

cista · 14/02/2018 11:15

It's quite scary how many people here are supporting the current "mermaids" ideology. Sad

busyboysmum · 14/02/2018 11:26

Cista - I have been wondering if there is a correlation with people who believe you can be trapped in the wrong body and people who believe in other mystical things like ghosts. I am very analytical and scientific in my approach so am athiest and don't believe in anything spiritual. But there are a lot of people out there who believe in all sorts of things. Would be interesting to see.

beluga425 · 14/02/2018 12:24

busyboysmum why can't someone legitimately feel as though they are trapped in the wrong body? Surely someone should be free to describe how they feel.

Certainly not saying they should then be automatically allowed to use a different loo/ encouraged into surgery/drugs at the age of 11.

SkeletonSkins · 14/02/2018 12:55

Sorry, but you should not send this into schools. It is not balanced at all and only shows one side of the debate. You lost me with this comment. Can’t we just invite people in, regardless of their ‘type’?

picklemepopcorn · 14/02/2018 13:05

Busy boys mum, no correlation, I don't think.
I'm religious, spiritual, very open minded, but no way believe that you can be born in the wrong body.

I can be open minded about reiki, ghosts, hypnotism, acupuncture, reflexology. I struggle being open minded about crystals. I am not open minded about being born in the wrong body.

derxa · 14/02/2018 13:05

I'll be going into my child's school and warning them away from this TERF attempt to bully, belittle and deny basic human rights to trans children. I would rather have no trans children.

newyearsameme80 · 14/02/2018 14:41

We have reached a point where a teacher faced disciplinary action from his union over transphobic remarks (he won).
Pasting as it's a Time article so behind paywall.

*A maths teacher was referred to a disciplinary panel for professional misconduct because he said boys and girls should be able to wear whatever they want without anyone jumping to the conclusion that they are transgender.
He was accused of “transplaining” and subjected to a disciplinary hearing by his union, the National Union of Teachers (NUT). In a three-paragraph statement on a Facebook page used by 7,000 NUT members, Roy Wilkes, 59, also said prescribing puberty-blocking drugs to children was “a form of child abuse”.

Wilkes added it could lead to a lifetime dependence on hormonal drugs, and many children changed their minds after puberty about changing gender.

He was accused of making “grossly discriminatory (transphobic) statements . . . that were damaging to the mental health of members”*

beluga425 · 14/02/2018 14:44

Transplaining!
That is bonkers!!!

Hidingtonothing · 14/02/2018 18:22

Skeleton, have you seen the Mermaids/GIRES guidance, which is already being used in schools? The reason this document is necessary is because Mermaids et al don't give both sides of the debate and balancing that is exactly the reason it should be sent into schools. It seems bonkers to me to complain about 'only one side of the debate' when that's precisely what's currently on offer, this document offers the very balance you're complaining is lacking Confused

SkeletonSkins · 14/02/2018 19:25

Yes I have, I’m a SENCO in a school and we don’t use it and we won’t use this either. One being unbalanced doesn’t make this balanced. It is not balanced. It is propoganda.

Hidingtonothing · 14/02/2018 19:40

Point is other schools are using Mermaids (completely one sided) guidance, exclusively. If you agree it's not balanced surely the other side should also be available?

SkeletonSkins · 14/02/2018 19:47

No, I think neither should be available as both present opinion as fact.

Hidingtonothing · 14/02/2018 20:24

Yep, that would be my preference too in an ideal world. But that's not what's happening, schools are pushing the Mermaids guidance and our children are not being given any other option.

Somersetter · 14/02/2018 21:52

@newyearsameme80 Wow. Hard for me to find fault with anything he said. Was he found guilty?

newyearsameme80 · 14/02/2018 22:11

No, he wasn’t thank god. You should look at the Pink News coverage of the same case - full of talk of his hate speech but without just clearing stating what he said. I despair I really do.

HangingRoundInABofAlorsStance · 14/02/2018 22:28

Sorry OP but I think some of that brochure is bollocks, asking for a strong girl to carry a table or a caring boy to look after a class pet, whilst I appreciate and have seen the table of so called male/female attributes I simply do not buy that teachers would ever use such adjectives when asking for volunteers and reversing it sounds just as shite... can I have a strong girl to do x, as if girls are not usually strong.
On top of all that, the brochure does not take into fact that there are countless PSHRE teachers who have taught about stereotyping for years now. It is nothing new and usually taught in citizenship as well as coming up in media studies.
Teachers are more than capable of respecting preferred pronouns and names whilst not promoting transitioning. Many have pointed out sexism and promoted positive role models for years now right from primary level.

beluga425 · 14/02/2018 22:34

Yet only 18 months ago I heard a teacher asking for strong boys to move tables

HangingRoundInABofAlorsStance · 14/02/2018 22:38

Hope you pulled them up on it.

beluga425 · 14/02/2018 23:19

Of course, I never let anything like that go, but it was by no means isolated.

BoneyBackJefferson · 15/02/2018 00:17

Sorry OP but I think some of that brochure is bollocks,

the problem is that so is a lot of the mermaid/stonewall stuff

HangingRoundInABofAlorsStance · 15/02/2018 05:58

I also would like them to think clearly about safeguarding when an AGP male transitions in his late fifties. (See //////////////// school)

I looked at the case you cited OP. Not even the Daily Fail tried to go the AGP route. You cannot accuse every adult male suffering from gender dysphoria of autogynephilia.

The teacher in question is still in post in a church of England school. It speaks volumes when a faith school proves itself to be more open minded than you. Unless you have evidence of an AGP diagnosis then you have just libelled that teacher.
