What’s the one thing that your colleagues do that drive you up the wall - emails without subject lines does it for me.

OP posts:
IAmBreakmasterCylinder · 11/02/2018 18:04

People who don’t check the calendar before booking holiday and then acting as though they are being victimised when they can’t have the time off.

Policy clearly states only 1 off at a time.

Also people who can’t open a printer and remove jammed paper and then simper ‘oh, I’m useless with technology’

MissMary0fSweden · 11/02/2018 18:05

When people ask where a colleague is and I tell them they're WFH that day, and they proceed to tell *
me* what it is they want to find out with an expectant look on their face.

Don't tell me. In fact why are you still at my desk? Go ring the actual person you need to speak to. They are working from home, not the moon, they will answer your call!

What annoys me more is other members of the team who will actually pick up other people's work. We all enjoy the benefits of WFH but that shit reinforces the idea that some people have (in our organisation) that presenteeism is everything.

MustObey · 11/02/2018 18:05

The colleague whose constantly says “Pacific” when they mean “specific” drives me insane every time and after 8 years I have give up trying to correct them.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 11/02/2018 18:06

Blame culture. One of our sites in particular is chock full of people who like to make out that them doing a terrible job is somehow everybody's fault but theirs.

thepatchworkcat · 11/02/2018 18:09

People ignoring my emails.
People replying to all when they don’t need to.
And yes people not putting a subject line in!
My job isn’t even that email based but these things all wind me up.

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 11/02/2018 18:09

Expecting ‘someone else’ to clear up. Plates in the sink, dirty cups on the side, dishwasher not emptied, empty toilet roll in the loo. HOW DO THESE PEOPLE LIVE AT HOME!! Angry

Pomeranio9834 · 11/02/2018 18:10

Copying in my manager or, worse, the CEO for absolutely no reason other then to make me look like a knob when replying to my email.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 11/02/2018 18:10

People breaking the photocopier then scarpering. Or using all the paper and instead of going to track down more they leave it and expect their copying to be put in a safe space when somebody else goes and gets the paper. I’m not even going to talk about toners.

Liberation of supplies, especially if they’ve been bought by a member of staff and not supplied by school.

falsepriest · 11/02/2018 18:13

Endless freaking fag breaks. If I had half a pint every time my colleague all went for a fag during a 5 hour shift, I'd be totally bollocksed half-way in.

falsepriest · 11/02/2018 18:14

The "back of house tidy" which seems to mean putting objects in piles and hiding them in random cupboards rather than any logical sense. Often done without notice.

Rainboho · 11/02/2018 18:14

Agree with subjectless emails or people who write the entire email in the subject Hmm

Also, people who start emails with just my name i.e.

Rainboho.

Bring the minutes from the last meeting.

So fucking rude!

Actually I just hate everyone at work at the moment.

Iluvthe80s · 11/02/2018 18:15

Twatty reply-all emails

People who cc in others to make themselves seem more important than they are

Iluvthe80s · 11/02/2018 18:16

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister I'm with you. Our kitchen at work is a fucking disgrace. Working with animals

Toyboysrus · 11/02/2018 18:17

People who don't empty the shredder when it's full, I know they can see the huge flashing red light.

Asthenia · 11/02/2018 18:18

I sit next to a woman who is up and down CONSTANTLY. Our desk is right against the wall so I have to squeeze in every time she goes past as there’s only a narrow space between our chairs and the wall - it drives me insane as it disturbs my work. I want to grab her by the shoulders, plonk her down in her chair and very firmly say SIT DOWN.

MrsMaxwell · 11/02/2018 18:18

A whole canteen of cutlery has gone missing from our kitchen at work that our admin lady provided Hmm

MissMary0fSweden · 11/02/2018 18:18

I once sent a (genuinely) urgent mail and flagged it High Importance. The recipient flagged his reply Low Importance.

I almost kind of admired his passive aggressive stance Grin

Saying that, a knobhead at another office had his emails set to High Importance as a default. Tosser.

Asthenia · 11/02/2018 18:19

Also can’t stand kitchen small talk. I’m all for a how was your weekend convo but I hate being cornered by the office bore 😂 I wait until he’s finished in the kitchen before I make my tea!

Pomeranio9834 · 11/02/2018 18:20

Yes to the starting emails with your name!!!!!!!! SO RUDE. Would it kill you to say "Good Morning Pomeranio"?!?!?!

Pomeranio.

Did you do x?

Fuck off. Angry

StorminaBcup · 11/02/2018 18:20

I’m so glad I don’t work in an office anymore Grin

orangetriangle · 11/02/2018 18:22

all of the above!!!! office work trys my patience big time!!!

molemonkey · 11/02/2018 18:22

Lateness! When called out on it they reply with i left 40 mins ago the traffic was bad! You live 10 mins away!!!!
She's does this every shift and never utters the words 'sorry I'm late'

Pomeranio9834 · 11/02/2018 18:23

Also.

"As discussed, I cannot do X until you compete and return X form to me for authorisation as per company policy"

Reply (copying in all and fucking sundry) "Pomeranio, I am extremely busy and do not have the time for such beauracry as forms. I have a £44926milliom (exaggeration) project on and numerous staff on holiday, as well as blahblahblahblah on and on and on for seven fucking paragraphs"

You literally could have completed the bloody form 17 times in the time it must have taken you to type that email you complete and utter incompetent knob.

EnglishRose13 · 11/02/2018 18:23

Emails with only subject lines really annoy me and I don't know why!
