To ask how much your David Lloyd gym membership is?

I was interested in signing up for an initial 3 month contract at my local DL gym but apparently finding out the monthly cost without having to have a face to face chat sales bollocks with someone at the gym.

There's no point them trying to do the hard sell- I know I want to sign up IF the cost is less than £300 for the three months. I don't understand why they don't just say "yes, come down and we'll sign you up" or "it'll be more than that"?!

£98 per month for Platinum at our local DL

seriouslydudegivemecake · 11/02/2018 18:07

£300 blimey! Ours is £88 pcm and that is for 6 of us. 2 adults 1 teen and 3 under 11s. We have a pool and all classes are included, it is NW though. I honestly don't know how some of you survive in the SE with huge house prices, crazy nursery fees and now £300 gym memberships!

Ofalltheginjoints · 11/02/2018 18:07

My DL is £65 per month platinum membership but we have a joint membership which is £110pm

I’m using it a lot more then DP is and there are other gyms nearby cheaper but I joined DL for a specific reason that I couldn’t get anywhere else

Cakedoesntjudge · 11/02/2018 18:07

These are all extortionate! I have no idea how much our David Lloyd gym is but membership at my gym (literally called the gym if there's one near you) is 15.99/month, it's 24/7, tonnes more equipment available than at the more expensive gyms and most of the classes are included in the price.

Admittedly there is no pool but since no one needs to see me in a swimming costume I'm ok with that!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 11/02/2018 18:07

Surrey was £141 per month a year or so ago.

They are priced differently depending on gym location and facilities, though, so unless someone is at your exact gym, this won't help.

problembottom · 11/02/2018 18:08

£100 a month for David Lloyd in Cheadle. And that’s without racquets!

allthegoodnameshadgone · 11/02/2018 18:08

130 a month for two adults and a four year old. No racquets. Anytime use of the gym and classes and pool. Liverpool

MrsJBaptiste · 11/02/2018 18:09

Is it really that much better than another gym?

I pay 9.99 per month at Xercise4Less and absolutely love their gyms. Yes, there's no pool, etc. but the machines are great and it's the cleanest gym I've ever been in!

I go 4-5 a week so probably pay around 50p for a 2 hour visit 👍

NeilPetark · 11/02/2018 18:10

About £70 per month I think?

MrsJoshDun · 11/02/2018 18:11

£93 for one person (no racquets).

Worth every penny. Different DLs are different prices depending on local competition.

k2p2k2tog · 11/02/2018 18:12

We've just left DL as we couldn't justify the cost. A single membership was around £80 without racquets a month, we were paying about £150 for 2 adults and 3 kids.

Lovely facilities but we found that once the kids hit 11 all the kids activities stopped and they were very restricted in what times they were allowed in the gym. They were also too young for the exercise classes. So we just weren't using in enough.

I'm now a member at a Sports Direct gym which is so much cheaper but the facilities just don't compare at all to DL which was very nice!

Parky04 · 11/02/2018 18:15

£20 per month for Buzz Gym. Includes all of the classes. Obviously no swimming pool or sauna which is fine by me.

grammargirl · 11/02/2018 18:17

@Dipitydoda it's inside a gated community just outside London. The pool is in a converted chapel. It is lovely but I'd just as happily go somewhere dirt cheap if it was as convenient!

Oly5 · 11/02/2018 18:18

I used to go to David Lloyd but then moved city. I loved it.. the swimming pool area was like a 5 star hotel. Totally worth it in my opinion!

user1471426142 · 11/02/2018 18:19

We left dl about 3 years ago and were paying £80 each per adult. It was nice but we just couldn’t justify it anymore. That membership didn’t include rackets or access to the swankier jacuzzi. I imagine that would have risen to £100 plus now. My current membership is more basic but less than half the price.

Dipitydoda · 11/02/2018 19:08

@grammargirl sounds lovely.

BaffledMummy · 11/02/2018 19:14

I looked into it a couple of years ago. £96 for single membership excluding racquets. I can’t remember what the cost was with raquets as I was in a state of shock when they told me the non-Raquet cost Smile

crisscrosscranky · 11/02/2018 19:23

Thanks all- sounds as though £300 for the three months is a good estimate- I don't want racquet membership. I just want to lose last of baby weight and I'm struggling to get out and about now I've gone back to work and it's cold; I figured if I could join until May I could then carry on with running outside for free!

I pay £60 a month off peak at Nuffield outer London, with unlimited 45-60 min classes and pool. I'm sure other people pay less but I never seem to be able to get a discount

LalaLeona · 11/02/2018 19:34

Virgin active £120 a month here! Shock so called "posh" leafy area here..ridiculous!(disclaimer I'm not a member but a lot of friends are.

KingPrawnOkay · 11/02/2018 19:39

Mine was £62 but that was the under 23s price. When you hit 23 it goes up to £80+ and I think that's actually with couples discount, so god knows what it actually was. I've fucked off and gone elsewhere for £21 a month - equipment is just as good, pool is smaller but quieter as no bloody swimming lessons, and I stopped using the classes anyway (new gym isn't licensed for Les Mills). But still, what David Lloyd did offer on top was not worth an extra £40 a month!

MatildaTheCat · 11/02/2018 19:43

About £180 for couples health and fitness membership at a major club. We use it quite a lot and I’m addicted to reading my kindle in the spa pool. We don’t do any classes but there are dozens. Indoor and outdoor pools. Big, busy family club which I quite like.

It’s expensive but worth it if you go enough.

SheSparkles · 11/02/2018 19:43

I’m £55 for me and £21 for ds, both without racquets.

notacooldad · 11/02/2018 19:48

I'm seriously shocked at some of these gym prices. I pay £15 ( with corporate discount) and DS pays £23 for the same gym. We have access to 3 main gyms in our town and that includes over 200 exercise classes a week, including yoga, Pilates, spinning, body pump, body combat swim fit, kettle bells etc, a running track, swimming pools, badminton and squash courts 1 hour personal training and steam rooms and sauna!

BlackPeppercorn · 11/02/2018 19:53

£35 a month in Ashford, gym, weights, all equipment anytime, swim anytime, all classes, jacuzzi/sauna/steam, free consultations. £10 one-off for your TDS key if you want one, updated free at any time.
DD has student membership same benefits £21 a month.
Free parking.
