Do you put your washing out when it's cold?

Bright windy day here.
Not damp but coooold.
I was going to put the washing out anyway. I doubt it would dry but it would have got some air through it.
Husband thinks it is a silly idea.
We went out before the machine finished and it's too late now anyway but curious what other people think. Because I live life on the edge like that.

Yes, of course. Still pretty effective, especially when windy.

Yes. It dries faster when you bring it in and smells nicer.

Yes, if it was bright and windy and would dry during the day. I get cross if I put it out first thing and it's still not dry by bedtime.

BTW, just realised you say you went out before machine finished. Shock THAT is living life on the edge, goes against all fire safety recommendations, and I would never do that!

Windy and bright dries it. Tell him. Mumsnet says so.
No sun and no wind - then it really is a waste of time and a cause of frozen fingers when you go out to bring it back in and it's still wet and gone horribly cold too!

I I stopped putting washing on the line when I brought in a pair of leggings went to put them on and the most hugest spider was on them. So glad I spotted it before putting them on!

I don't put washing out in the winter because I'm lazy and have a tumble drier.
If it's bright, dry and windy then the washing will dry though.

Nah, can't be arsed to put it out if its not warm enough outside to fully dry it, I put it on the clothes horse indoors instead.

Well. There’s cold and there’s COLD. Currently -28 here. Chuckling at the BBC Winter Olympics coverage saying how cold it is.

My ndn has had washing out every dry day this year. She’s retired and rarely goes out so if it does start raining she can bring it in. If I could keep an eye on it all day I’d definitely do it even though I don’t have a washing line atm

Tumblr dryer all the way. taking it out takes forever at this time of the year... I am working all week (no time for laundry during the week) and I do 4-5 loads during the weekend. it needs to get washed/dried and to some extend ironed. Wouldn't get anywhere it I put it out.

As long as the paving stones are dry, mine goes out. Put a load out at lunchtime today. Just brought it in and it's dry.

Yes I always put mine outside if it's dry but I don't have a tumble drier so it would only be sat around the house otherwise. It was so blustery here on Friday mine nearly dried despite it being cold. Having more trouble drying today's load thanks to the hail!

Whoa, whoa, back up - it’s against safety regs to go out and leave the washing machine unattended?! Is this an actual thing?! I knew not t leave the tumbler but genuinely thought the washing machine was fine.

I'd have hung it out, washing smells way nicer if it's been outside.

Always hang it out during spring and summer up untill end of September ish , does it not freeze if its really cold?

Most of our washing is done whilst we're asleep at night......

Always put the washing out on a windy day - dries very quickly & smells lovely....

I've had two loads on the line today. One lot of towels and bath mats and one lot of bedding. All dried in about 3 hours.

It does indeed freeze if it is really cold! However, the temperature has to be below zero for this to happen. In the UK there are not that many days between September and March when the daytime temperature is below zero.

I hate having to a job twice, so unless it's guaranteed to be dry enough to put away when it comes in, it goes into the airing cupboard here.

I go by the dry path theory. Was annoyed today as it was windy and bright this morning so I did a load of towels the minute I turned on the washing machine it started sleeting and has done on and off since.

Yes, most gardens along my street have bedding on the line today!
