Mumsnet "Discussions of the day" more like "Discussions of the week"!

Or is it just my rubbish internet failing to refresh itself?

The so called "Hot cross buns crime" Discussion of the day has been a discussion of the day since Monday!

Does anyone else get annoyed at this?

Preparing myself for being told to "get a life," etc!

Fun fact - I can walk in heels, despite being male Grin

ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 11/02/2018 20:53

Nah, I don't think so, we'll spread ourselves too thinly, I think.

Can I ask HCBers advice...

How about this for the OP....

Apologies, dear mner, you have reached this post under false pretenses.

We are the HCBers (Hot Cross Bun-ers)- a movement formed today in order to:-

  1. highlight MNHQ's shoddy mismanagement of the Discussion of the Day, Trending and In the News lists

  2. conduct an experiment in order to ascertain the criteria for appearing on the DOTD list; to meet that criteria and appear on the list (We have achieved this already!)

  3. conduct an experiment in order to ascertain the criteria for appearing on the trending list; to meet that criteria and appear on the list

  4. to lobby MNHQ with a view to getting an image of a HCB on the smiley list

  5. to lobby MNHQ with a view to HCB being included in the acronym list

  6. to have a laugh and not take ourselves too seriously (in spite of this OP, which suggests otherwise Wink)

Are you in?

You are already unwittingly involved in our experiment, as by clicking on this post, we hope to determine if clicks alone, rather than actual posts are key in determining whether or not an OP can meet the Trending list.

One of our fellow HCBers will shortly post a link to our original thread, FYI.

Regards.

HCB

Arsenal - I only got 5 posts (yes, 5) on the thread I posted a few days back in Site Stuff on ‘Discussions of the Day’ and ‘Trending’

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/3162606-Discussions-of-the-day-Trending

(sobs uncontrollably)

MiddleClassProblem · 11/02/2018 20:58

High heels

ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 11/02/2018 21:00

FFS - how did I miss that?

Thanks Aridane Star

Defintiely will delete a lot of that then in the new OP. Blush

Love it! Grin

NoNoCharlieRascal · 11/02/2018 21:02

I was typing something but it went wrong and I'm too drunk to correct it. So I deleted it and wrote this instead.

educatingarti · 11/02/2018 21:06

You need to keep it silly/ outrageous/ fun in the opening posts so people keep coming back to see what has happened.

Aridane · 11/02/2018 21:07

I have once had a thread in ‘Discsussions of the Day’ and once in ‘Trending’

< quietly preens >

Normally they die a death and I have to bump them for a response.

ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 11/02/2018 21:09

In that case Aridane Star.......

  3. to get as many mners as possible to click on our thread, which will hopefully ensure that our thread appears on the trending list

You are already unwittingly involved in our movement. By viewing our thread, you have hopefully aided us in getting our thread on the Trending list. However, you are free to opt out if you so wish.

We hope you will understand and forgive our deliberately controversial and dishonest thread title - it was simply a means to an end!

Cue a fuck ton of REPORTED OP YOU'RE SO CHILDISH Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2018 21:13

perfect Arsenal.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/02/2018 21:14

Get a grip OP

educatingarti · 11/02/2018 21:14
Smile
ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 11/02/2018 21:14

OK SneakyGremlins and educatingarti you both have a point there!

Can you suggest something then?

I thought the first OP needs to explain what the hell it's all about.... Tbf it doesn't actually matter if people keep coming back or not - it's the number of times mners view it that is key initially.

Once that OP is out the way, I imagine the thread will naturally pick up where it's left off in terms of being hilarious, random, Aridane Star can put some fab artwork on there.....but people sort of need to know what the hell it's all about & why it's not about heels & parking spaces, no?

OP posts:
MiddleClassProblem · 11/02/2018 21:14

Just practicing

Aridane · 11/02/2018 21:15

920 posts - only 80 to go before the thread is full!!

SneakyGremlins · 11/02/2018 21:15

Does it have to be unique views?

Aridane · 11/02/2018 21:16

ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 11/02/2018 21:16

MiddleClass it is tongue in cheek, but maybe it's not coming across like that at all?
