No need to go further into your reasoning if you don't want to but this has always a been curious issue to me and came up today with one of my colleagues. She is a feminist by how she described her beliefs but doesn't actually adopt the term.

@GoldenBlue
Sooo.... you're a feminist then?

thewooster · 09/02/2018 20:16

Yes.

Yes

PoppyCherry · 09/02/2018 20:16

How is it anti-feminist if these women want to do it? Surely telling another woman what they should do is anti-feminist?

For me, it’s about questioning why there’s a want and/or need for it rather than telling others they can’t do it.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/02/2018 20:17

Yes. Always have been. Always will be.

ChattyLion · 09/02/2018 20:17

Yes. MN made me do it..

crazycatgal · 09/02/2018 20:18

Yes.

What sort of woman wouldn't want equality? I can't get my head around women who aren't feminists.

FrancinePefko · 09/02/2018 20:18

Are there really women who don't want equal rights and opportunities? Makes no sense at all.

Sadiebird · 09/02/2018 20:22

Yes.

CapnCabinet · 09/02/2018 20:22

Yes.

DailyMailareDicks · 09/02/2018 20:22

I have never called myself a feminist, so was quite alarmed to discover some would describe me as a radical feminist. It feels like I need to 'come out', which is a bit weird.

I'm also a closet vegan but am hiding that too.

Giggorata · 09/02/2018 20:23

Yes

MrMeSeeks · 09/02/2018 20:23

I also disagree with aspects of feminism which tell me, a woman, how I should feel or what I should do. Take darts walk-on girls, or page 3 girls for example, they want to do the job, but feminists are saying it should be banned. How is it anti-feminist if these women want to do it? Surely telling another woman what they should do is anti-feminist?
This is my problem too.
I maybe somewhere in the middle, def not a mn feminist though!

There was a thread on here recently about someone being annoyed that a man held a door open to let her go first
Yes i remember that thread, you're not making it up.

I remember a thread about this. Lots of people being annoyed. I'm just like smile and say thank you, it's nothing to do with because I'm a little feeble girlie, it's just called basic good manners and courtesy!
The other mentioned stuff, and this too, is what stops me identifying as one.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 09/02/2018 20:31

YES!

MaryLennoxsScowl · 09/02/2018 20:34

I counted approx 30 (wine has been had) noes and unsures, and with about 25 results per page, that makes at least 395 yeses. Hurray for Mumsnetters being more woke than GMTV viewers!

MaryLennoxsScowl · 09/02/2018 20:34

I counted equalists as noes.

BronwenFrideswide · 09/02/2018 20:35

Yes.

Dare I ask what is a Mumsnet Feminist?
