AIBU?

In still feeling cheated at the end of Dawson's Creek?

I've just re-watched as the box set is on All-4 at the moment. Dawson's Creek was a huge part of my teenage years and I still love it.

However, I still feel cheated at the end. Am I alone?

First of all, it felt like the Jen show. I've never found Jen a particularly likeable character and the last two episodes were all about her, which I feel took it away from the main three characters.

Then there's Andie. I didn't really like her that much either, but where was she? She didn't come back for Ken's death, her brother moving back to Capeside with Doug? Seems odd as they were very close.

I'm happy with Joey and Pacey being together. When I was a teen, it absolutely devastated me as I thought she'd finally end up with Dawson, but after a re-watch, I realised Dawson is a bit of a selfish bugger really. But it all felt SO rushed. One minute they're in Capeside and the next they have this teeny and fairly insignificant scene then boom, it's over.

I can only take consolation in the fact that the writer said that Joey and Pacey would still be together now, with children, Dawson is in a good place and Jack and Doug raised Amy successfully and she has two wonderful fathers.

I am aware I have invested way too much time in thinking about this Grin

Oh he's still gorgeous in The Affair

He's got it in spades Wink

I know - he looks so proud to be with her, and doesn't care that he's getting wet whilst holding the umbrella over her.

I've not watched the programme that he's in, The Affair. Though I did watch Fringe which was (mostly) good.

I'd say he has the 2nd best career now, after Michelle Williams obvs.

James van der Beek looks much better these days!

James VDB does look better than he did, but still gives me the heebie jeebies to be honest! I never saw the appeal! He had the charisma of a wet dishcloth.

I've just been reading a few articles and the most shocking thing I've read so far is that the actress who played Grams was 57 when the series started! Shock

James Van der Beek was quite amusing in Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23 where he was playing a caricature of himself but even so, it's a no from me.

What was that comedy called with Dawson in playing himself? (The actor) He was more self-deprecating in that.

Here's a fab reminder of why Pacey wins at life - see link below for some blasts from the past...

The main reason he's better than Dawson (apart from looks, charisma etc) is that he wanted Joey to be happy and wanted the best for her, whether that was with him or not. Dawson was a selfish tool who only cared about himself and wanting to "win" her, irrespective of what she actually wanted.

Dawson never bothered to really know Joey- she was just the love prop in his self-centered little life.
Pacey listened to her and genuinely cared about her.

I can't watch the Affair- my husband binge-watched it and I tried to get into it but Dom West' s character was just too hideous.
Loved Fringe though- and it had a great satisfying bittersweet ending.
Walter and Peter were adorable together. And Walter and Astrid.

Oh my! After binge watching all of friends on Netflix, and thoroughly enjoying reliving my teenage years, I am sooo drawn to rewatching this. You all remind me how good it was. Only, I can't get 4OD, and iTunes is selling it for 44pounds..... I mean when you work it out per episode, it's a complete bargain right?!

Oh no! Why can't you get it?

I am confused. You mean I dreamt it or it was a dream! There was definitely an airport scene! I am sure I remember joey getting a flight somewhere but maybe it wasn’t the last series.

I hated the affair too. I started the second series but realised I hated all the characters. Apparently there is a big twist I have missed out on.

I loved Dawson's Creek but clearly need to re-watch on All4 because I read your OP and wondered if Ken was one of Jack's boyfriends and what he died of Grin

I also didn't like the end!

Bodicea - i think the end of the main series timeline was Joey going off to Paris, maybe that's what you are thinking of. Then there was a final double episode that flashed forward 5 years, and it was at the end of that that her and Pacey were together. (I just looked this up, I couldn't remember how the main timeline ended)

Joshua Jackson and Norman Reedus! That's just greedy! Faints!

Me and my friend still do the little scene on the boat, permission to come aboard & Pacey says permission granted! It was glorious.

Dawson was pretty funny in Don't Trust The B but it's always been Pacey for me. He's still gorgeous.

I think there are some things I need to watch :)

I don't usually watch TV but I'm on long term sick at the moment and like something on in the background while I crochet/paint, so I will get some more Joshua Jackson into my life.

I haven’t watched Dawson’s Creek in a long time but in The Affair when Cole said “Let’s make a baby” to Alison my ovaries nearly exploded and I made DH rewind it Grin

I live overseas. Other than missing family, I've always thought being overseas was the best option. Now I'm missing this I'm not so sure!
