What to say to lying dog walker?

oobeedoiwannabelikeyou · 07/02/2018 19:02

Sent home sick from work yesterday, still off sick today. DH messaged walker at 9am to say dog was fine (she had been ill last week)
Dog walker messaged back saying Perfect I'll be to take her out.
Comes to 12pm no walker, DH messaged again to say where are you?
She messaged back saying she'd been and gone from 8:45-9:45 and would be back at 2pm.
DH said that's not true and that I was at home.
Walker messaged back assuring him she'd been.
DH said he would be coming home to walk her as I was too sick to and not to bother coming back in the afternoon.
She maintains she had walked her.
SHE DIDN'T I WAS AT HOME WITH HER!
Anyway the trust is gone, Therefor she is going. How do I word this?
I know she's lied and doesn't obviously give a shit but I would like to hold my head up high walking past her knowing I was right and handled it correctly without flying off the handle.
Please wise women if mumsnet help me with wording a message.

Is she thick? Or deluded?

I think you need to go to the vets and get the keys back. These mad message exchanges could just go on for ever otherwise. Maybe message her to say you'll be in on x day at y time to get your keys, so it's not a surprise. Then turn up and be calm and just say 'May I have my keys please?' and stand there until she gives them over.

DarkPeakScouter · 15/02/2018 10:12

She has some front!

DiscotequeJuliet · 15/02/2018 11:35

Wow, she's as mad as a box of frogs (dogs?) to think you'd buy that Shock

FluffyWhiteTowels · 15/02/2018 16:34

How does she know you have an upstairs TV (broken or not)?

Does she have to scour the house to find your DDig when she turns up?

She's sounding less and less honest with her messages.

oobeedoiwannabelikeyou · 15/02/2018 20:19

There's actually no reason for her to go upstairs at all. We have a stair gate at the bottom so my boy dog who has elbow dysplasia can only go up and down the stairs at a limited time when we're at home.

Still no sign of keys yet.
We have to go to vets on Saturday so DH going to message and say if not returned tomorrow then we'll collect them Saturday at the vets.

She's had absolutely zero communication with me since it happened and has completely ignored my message, where as yesterday she was basically telling DH I was a liar.
That speaks volumes in itself.
Why not reply to me?

Why not reply to me?

Because she knows you were at home with the dog and you're in a position to tear a strip off her. She's a coward.

oobeedoiwannabelikeyou · 17/02/2018 10:13

@MichaelBendfaster
That's exactly what DH and I were saying.
I wasn't to shout scream and go absolutely bazerk all over fb BUT I'm not going to.
I've removed my review and spoken to the majority of dog owners in the area.
I've also spoken to my friends who are walkers and although shocked they all 100% believe me.
Like one said I've no reason to lie I needed her more than she needed me.
DH is at the vets just now with our girl and he said he's going to calmly get the key at reception and then talk to the vet when he's in the treatment room.
He's a lot more chilled than I am so I'm at home with my DD and other dog.

I can’t beleive she is still lying

Did your dog ever leave your side at all? You didn’t fall asleep on sofa etc?

Hope you get keys back today and be interesting what vet says about his lying staff

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 17/02/2018 10:35

What a greedy lying lazy human being. Absolutely shame her on Facebook

Ninabean17 · 17/02/2018 10:45

Can't believe she's still trying to wriggle out of this! Unbelievable

BewareOfDragons · 17/02/2018 11:16

Silly girl to be lying about it. There's no reason for you to be lying; there's every reason for her to be lying about it. I'm sure the vet will be appalled.

AlpacaLypse · 17/02/2018 11:25

If you're looking for a new and reliable walker, get chatting to other people you see out walking. If they've got several dogs with them, they may well be walking professionally. If you see them out and about several times and dogs are clearly having fun, chances are that you've spotted a good one. But I'm just still utterly shocked that your lying dog walker has risked her career over this.

RuthsRandomRadish · 17/02/2018 15:11

What did the vet say

oobeedoiwannabelikeyou · 17/02/2018 18:35

So she wasn't there to collect key.
DH told the vet what had happened with our walker and the vet was disgusted until DH actually said who our walker was. The vet went quiet and just basically stuck to talking about our girls allergies and what our next steps would be with those.
DH thinks it's well and truly noted but nothing more was mentioned to him about it.
DH messaged again today with a simple "please return our key"
Been read no response.

What’s the vet’s problem?

I don’t know if the police would be interested in a failure to return keys, but is it worth a try?

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 17/02/2018 19:01

The vet probably felt awkward when he realised it was his employee/co-worker.

Munchyseeds · 17/02/2018 19:03

I think I would be very inclined to change the lock...I don't think she has any intention of returning the key.

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 17/02/2018 19:27

This is why I have a dog cam on my dogs and make sure that they're out of the house around the time dog walker is supposed to have picked them up (obviously it changes slightly day to day).

She is amazing and I do trust her but you can never be too careful I suppose!

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 17/02/2018 19:41

I'd post on her Facebook that you want your key back. If she doesn't reply id put the reason why

Cheeky mare. I'd also speak to your vet for when she's next in so you can collect your key. She surely can't avoid you at her work

MyBoysAndI · 17/02/2018 19:56

Thought you were going to change the locks?

Just change them and forget about her.

oobeedoiwannabelikeyou · 17/02/2018 20:01

DH said it was definitely embarrassment on the vets part. FIL is coming up for a visit next weekend and will change the locks for us (DH is hopeless at anything like that and I've never done it before but will watch FIL intently and will know for the future)
We will keep messaging for the return of our key regardless.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2018 20:49

Weird the vet said nothing tho maybe he felt caught in the middle
I would message or call lady and request key back within 24hrs or you will be calling the police for theft

BewareOfDragons · 18/02/2018 01:11

I'm glad you're changing your locks. Even if she returns the key, there's nothing preventing her from having made copies ... and the fact that she's clearly scoped out your upstairs is worrying. There was no reason for her to be up there with your stair gate ...

I imagine the vet will be having a word with her. How embarrassed the vet must be for one of his/her employees behaving in this manner, even if it is on her own time. She's tied to the vet's practice; it just doesn't look good.

PastaOfMuppets · 18/02/2018 01:46

Can you call her with your number set to withheld?
