I have started a new job and been given the extremely important task of going to the shop to get biscuits for the staff room at lunchtime. I want to make a good impression with my taste in biscuits. Please help! (I’ll be getting about 4 packs)

Fox's double choc cookies
Jaffa cakes
Chocolate mini rolls
Tunnocks Carmel wafers

PsychoPumpkin · 07/02/2018 10:07

Ginger nuts
Shortbread (the proper stuff, thick and covered in sugar)
Chocolate hobnobs
Chocolate digestives ( even better, caramel chocolate digestives)

ChocolateWombat · 07/02/2018 10:08

If there's lots of people, go for quantity. People like to have a couple at least.
Sometimes places like M and S or Waitrose have their boxes of v chocolatey mixed biscuits at bargain prices - these would go down a storm.
Be wary of spending loads and establishing a precedent that you always buy the best biscuits though!

Purplerain101 · 07/02/2018 10:17

Just remembered I have a large tin of unopened M&S shortbread at home that I got for Xmas. I’ll swing by on my way to the shops and grab it

That's a task and a half in a new job. Wink

I agree with the PP who said think of quantity. If you get those lovely expensive ones, they'll be all gone in no time and some might miss out if they come in late. (school staffroom I'm looking at you)

Chocolate caramel digestives, hob nobs, fruit shortcake and a bunch of seedless grapes for the non biscuit eaters. (if you dare)

We used to pay into a tea/biscuit fund and those who didn't eat biscuits complained, so we started getting some healthy options too.

BarbaraofSevillle · 07/02/2018 10:44

I would rather go for quality over quantity and would much rather have one nice biscuit than any number of cheap ones like custard cream, rich tea etc. M&S shortbread is good though.

Romany creams but they’re so hard to find where I live! Angry and Sad

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 07/02/2018 10:49

I once asked a work colleague to buy some cake when he was going to the shop. He asked what sort and I said, I don’t know, generic cake. He came back later without cake. He said the shop didn’t sell Generic Cake, he even asked a shop assistant for help! Grin

For dunking in tea it's Rich Tea and Malted Milk
For a treat - shortbread

Purplerain101 · 07/02/2018 11:53

Thanks everyone. Just been to the shop and got rich teas, plain hobnobs, caramel digestives, wagon wheels, custard creams and some fancy triple chocolate chunk cookies. Plus my tin of M&S shortbread. There’s about 20 of us.
Who knew biscuit buying could be such a minefield!

I love a nice plain biscuit -Marie, Nice, Ginger nut. Never liked chocolate biscuits really.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 07/02/2018 15:38

The ones they give in my hairdressers, no idea what they are but wow! Followed by chocolate digestives, normal digestives, malted milk. Oh, and shortbread are joint first favourite!

BarbaraofSevillle · 07/02/2018 15:43

TripTrap I've been given individually wrapped Lotus Biscuits in a couple of hairdressers, is this them? You sometimes get one with a coffee in a cafe too.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 07/02/2018 16:07

Barbara I believe so. I'm now off to Tesco and putting the low carbing on hold

myusernamewastaken · 07/02/2018 16:11

MadisonAvenue · 07/02/2018 16:13

Barbara and Trip I mentioned those earlier, they're called Biscoff and are amazing! I almost bought myself a packet from the Co-op earlier this afternoon but thought better of it, I'm regretting that decision now Blush
