to ask about ethics of companies like Handy dot com?

I'd like to get a cleaner & I've seen ads on the underground for companies like Handy which look pretty efficient.

However I went to google them and found this

Cleaner blocked and fined £25 for being ill

and it looks like they are part of the same "gig economy" as Uber, Deliveroo etc.

I have ASD and booking online without having to interview, use the phone or keep records of entitlement to work would be really, really useful for me. But I don't want to engage in exploitative working practices.

Would IBU to use a platform like that or not?

There are real agencies out there if you're nervous. They come with insurance etc.

I've heard of people using platforms like that as a one or two-off then coming to an arrangement with the handyperson outside of the app. Which would be in breach of the terms of the site, but it's hard to feel too bad for gig sites.

That’s interesting. Presumably it would be near impossible for them to police.

I think I probably need to look at other agencies too!

I'd rather search for a local company with some personality that provided the same service, rather than these huge corporate entities who seem concerned about one thing and one thing only.
