To ask for ideas on somewhere posh that doesn't cost the earth for the weekend?

DH was on a bike and it crushed his balls as he sat on them Its our anniversary in May, we're going through a rocky patch and we're supposed to be going to the USA but that's looking unlikely now. AIBU to think we can find somewhere UK that's posh but doesn't cost a bomb for the weekend instead?

You might need to give an idea as to what you consider is the right price, OP. One poster's bomb is another's damp squib!

Yep, you could do a lovely few days in the Uk for that. You'd get more for your money than travelling abroad I reckon.

Fancy hotel, restaurants, theatre and something like the RIB speedboat on the Thames in London if you want a city break, or somewhere like Scarlet in Cornwall (5 star spa, it's stunning including a cliff top hot tub that overlooks the beach) and you can fly to Newquay v cheaply).

I'm not sure how your DH's crushed balls impact on your finances! But...
1K is plenty for somewhere posh. Hire a cottage or spend 5 nights in a lovely city hotel... Get searching Google OP!

Cottage in the Cotswolds or similar? Find somewhere with a super kitchen, an aga and grounds. Buy lots of gourmet food and good wine and picnic if it's warm and stay in by the fire if it's not.

Rudding park in Harrogate and moddershall oaks in Staffordshire are also amazing and have v v beautiful grounds too.

We had a fab weekend away there, you can book the bath spa and there is plenty to do in the town.

We stay at St Georges FA training ground frequently, onsite is a Hilton which really does have the wow factor, service is amazing and the spa is nice as well.
