Devin Nunes Gets A Pretty Basic Fact Wrong In Defending His Memo
Nunes suggested that Donald Trump had never met with George Papadopoulos. There's a photo of them sitting at the same table.

And we certainly didn't have a national security meeting right here:

Trump has blocked release of the Democrats’ memo. Rep. Adam Schiff’s statement is below.

After ignoring urging of FBI & DOJ not to release misleading Nunes memo because it omits material facts, @POTUS now expresses concerns over sharing precisely those facts with public and seeks to send it back to the same Majority that produced the flawed Nunes memo to begin with:

As far as Nunes can tell, none of us have even met with Trump

Don’t lose the outrage about Trump allowing the release of the Nunes memo, but not the Democratic rebuttal which the House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously to release. The moment we stop paying attention and caring about these acts which erode norms and democracy he wins.

White nationalist can't find a lawyer to defend him for Charlottesville

White supremacist Richard Spencer recently filed a motion to dismiss a federal lawsuit that seeks to hold him responsible for the violence he caused in Charlottesville,Virginia, last August. Spencer argues that he can't find a lawyer to represent him because his case is too "controversial." He further claims that last summer's violent, hate-inspired rally should be accepted as the "cost of free assembly and maintaining a vibrant political culture."

'The TWP is “intimately allied with neo-Nazi and other hardline racist organizations” and “advocates for racially pure nations”, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Its leaders have praised Trump, and the group claimed to bring more than 100 people to the Charlottesville white supremacist rally, where a counter-protester was killed.'

The Porter episode has brought a lot of latent frustrations with Kelly among staff to the surface. But most think Trump is trying to torture him, not prepare to fire him.

Kelly is a retired military general who hss faced worse than Trump calling people and back-biting. But the situation in the WH has devolved, esp as Kelly has almost no deputies left.

If Kelly leaves, however, a lot of people are likely to follow, a fact that doesn't seem to have been quite thought through.

boatyardblues · 10/02/2018 10:02

The whole thing of the north & south Koreans pulling together is so interesting. It struck me that south Korea has realised:

a) the US is quite happy for them to be collateral damage if Donny’s itchy nuke finger hits the button;
b) the US has bowed out of being a credible broker on the international diplomacy stage so its no use looking to them for help;
c) Finding their own solutions for breaking N Korea out of splendid isolation & bringing them back in the fold is the best way forwards for S Korea if they don’t want to be nuked to dust.

The irony is that the US risks becoming a pariah state if they keep this up.

Navalny really struck a nerve by ridiculing Kremlin official Prihodko, Deripaska and a young ‘model’ on Deripaska’s yacht. Took 24 hours for the censors to shut it down.

The Democrats sent a very political and long response memo which they knew, because of sources and methods (and more), would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency. Told them to re-do and send back in proper form

Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?

The Intercept piece paints the IC as reluctant to accept damaging information about Trump because of Pompeo's loyalty to him. The NYT tells a much more convincing story: The IC was wary of a Russian operation that had all the hallmarks of a disinformation campaign.

Malcolm Nance
@MalcolmNance
Agree! CIA exercised excellent tradecraft & counterintelligence sense by recognizing this trap designed to destroy CIA trust w/Trump. If they had bit & accepted Russians would have revealed every tape, photo & text to Trump to show “Deep State” conspiracy. Civil war would ensue.
