Sat watching this now.

I do not accept the view that those 2 boys were treated unfairly. They murdered that poor little boy and they knew what they were doing and that it was wrong.

They should be rotting in jail. Aibu to say justice not served??

Of course, we have only 50 clients max at one given time - we also work in NI so most of our clients are still recovering from conflict!!!

Sleepingbunnies · 07/02/2018 22:56

Obviously not jim. More’s the pity...

TheBrilliantMistake · 07/02/2018 22:57

There are many more victims. The families of the boys too. However messed up, it's a tragedy for a number of people.

Pomegranatepompom · 07/02/2018 22:59

That's an awful thing to say Sleeping

I have so much respect for therapists/psychologists, what an amazing (frustrating) job they do.

Woollypinksocks · 07/02/2018 22:59

Jedijim that crossed my mind.

How do they live with themselves?

NeedsAsockamnesty · 07/02/2018 23:00

what age group do you work with last?

The year I stopped working in that field we had more kids needing them than we had beds in the whole country.

Sleepingbunnies · 07/02/2018 23:00

Really pom. I can’t imagine many people shedding tears if they did as jim suggested.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/02/2018 23:00

We now have to trust the Parole Board not to release him until he no longer poses a risk

Given the Board's disastrous history of mistakes - two of them over the very offender being discussed - I can't help feeling any such "trust" would be severely misplaced

With regret, I very much expect they'll let Venables out yet again, that he'll commit further and even worse crimes, and that when he does we'll hear once more the flaccid response "lessons will be learned"

Pomegranatepompom · 07/02/2018 23:01

JV isn't? He's self destructing.

ZanyMobster · 07/02/2018 23:03

I agree Puzzled. I just don't trust they will do the right thing, I guess it would be admitting the system has failed wouldn't it.

REALLY the victim Was JAMEs AND HIS FAMILy

Pomegranatepompom · 07/02/2018 23:04

Sleeping you might feel I'm wrong, but imo it was a tragedy for the boys too.

Sleepingbunnies · 07/02/2018 23:05

Yes I respectfully cannot reconcile your opinion. pom

Woollypinksocks · 07/02/2018 23:06

It's difficult to imagine either of them feeling remorseful but still managing to carry on, eating, sleeping, watching tv, getting a haircut, celebrating their birthday?

JV isn't really self destructing, he's satisfying his sexual urges towards children. He's doing what he enjoys.

Pomegranatepompom · 07/02/2018 23:07

It's unbearably sad for all.

Elendon · 07/02/2018 23:07

that Guardian link is interesting. I was struck by one comment below the line:

Would you be happy to prosecute an adult with a mental age of 10?

Similarly I would add that no one would be happy for a jury member to be allowed who had the mental age of a 10 year old.

Samcro · 07/02/2018 23:09

victim blaming at the worst

JediJim · 07/02/2018 23:11

I have no idea really how these boys carry on living with the burden of it all. I can’t believe anyone would want a relationship with them either, like Thompson supposedly does.

I obviously can’t speak for Denise but I’m sure she would have given permission for the current documentaries that are on. She obviously wants James to be never forgotten, that I completely understand.
She is asking people to sign the petition, she also has a charity in her sons name.

TheBrilliantMistake · 07/02/2018 23:12

I can't think of a single post here where anybody has blamed the victim.
Have you?

Pomegranatepompom · 07/02/2018 23:13

Where is the victim blaming?

Trying to have empathy for these 2 boys does not take anything away from the awfulness of what happened to James and his family.

TheBrilliantMistake · 07/02/2018 23:15

She didn't give permission, and she can't stop such documentaries.

Samcro · 07/02/2018 23:15

Sleeping you might feel I'm wrong, but imo it was a tragedy for the boys too.

that imo is making the murderers out to be victims

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 07/02/2018 23:16

Do some of you think that Denise might look at this thread? And see that people feel sympathy for his torturers?

I can’t believe any parent could know what happened and think they deserve anything less that a life of suffering.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 07/02/2018 23:16

I'm just watching this now, despite saying I wouldn't.

I will probably be flamed for this as they're just " children who had a bad upbringing"
I don't just think they are evil. Looking at their school photos I think they look evil.
