I want some opinions.
My sister is getting married this year in June, we're all very excited. Our mom, the Mother Of The Bride, is thinking of wearing this dress. The replica dress Bella Swan wears on her wedding day (but not during the actual wedding) to my sister's wedding.
I said as it's a very light colour and a bit short, it's a little bit bad taste and is pretty much as good as wearing white. My Mom says as it's cream it's not actually white it's a reasonable choice.
I said I'd ask you lovely people to make the decision for us, one way or the other.
Do you think it's appropriate for the Mother Of The Bride to wear this to her daughter's wedding?

Looks nice. No one's going to care. Wear what she wants and is comfortable in.

Gemini69 · 05/02/2018 16:01

looks bland boring not very interesting.. you dress it up I assume Flowers

awankstainonhumanity · 05/02/2018 16:03

You just don't wear cream or white to a wedding. End of.

NachoAddict · 05/02/2018 16:04

No one should wear white or cream for a wedding. Can she pick a colour from the colour scheme and tie in?

Redpony1 · 05/02/2018 16:05

Going against the grain, but i like the length for a wedding. i like the dress too!

My DM will be wearing the same length dress to my wedding, because she looks odd inlonger skirts/dresses

pasturesgreen · 05/02/2018 16:10

Length is fine, colour is not.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/02/2018 16:10

What about monsoon? They have some nice stuff.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 05/02/2018 16:11

Also going against the grain. I like it. It's def not too short.. unless your mum is very tall I suppose.

NutElla5x · 05/02/2018 16:11

Of all the colours in all the world why would your mum chose to wear cream? I could sort of understand it if she fell in love with an exceptionally nice dress/outfit and cream was the only colour it came in,but this dress is rather plain and boring in my opinion and I'm sure she could find something much nicer in a different colour.

thegreylady · 05/02/2018 16:13

Suggest she look at a website called Just Last Season some great outfits at sensible prices.

MrsPonder · 05/02/2018 16:13

The colour or length are the least of the problems with this dress. This is not what mother of the bride wears. Completely wrong outfit. There are loads of other suitable things she can wear that aren't necessarily Jacques Vert.

youcantalwaysgetwhatyouwantt · 05/02/2018 16:18

I think it looks cheap, colour looks dirty.

Plenty of nicer dresses out there.

cansu · 05/02/2018 16:22

Have a look in Hobbs. A work colleague got a lovely smart dress and jacket for her son's wedding from there. I agree she needs a bit more colour in it.

sweetheart · 05/02/2018 16:23

I agree with others that the dress is very bland and boring. I think the length is fine though. Could do much better for a MOTB outfit.

I am however mostly confused why people think she is getting 2 outfits?

Bluelady · 05/02/2018 16:24

I don't think Jacques Vert is particularly expensive for MoB wear. I do think it's very frumpy though.

needmysleep75 · 05/02/2018 16:28

sweetheart I was the same until I re-read the OP I think they have got confused where she says 'The replica dress Bella Swan wears on her wedding day (but not during the actual wedding) to my sister's wedding.' they seem to be assuming the MOTB is having two dresses somehow

MsHopey · 05/02/2018 16:30

I would like to clarify she is only wearing one dress. She wanted the one pictured. I am just mentioning where the dress is in the film and that it isn't Bella's actual wedding dress.

It's not very MOB. Too plain and boring.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 05/02/2018 16:40

What about Phase 8?

I think he one in the picture is not at all appropriate for a wedding, but then my dress for my son’s wedding was from Jacques Vert. There’s a website called Just Last Season that sells dresses that are a bit cheaper.

Somanyshoes · 05/02/2018 16:41

Gosh she's only 43, I'd agree with your Mum, Jacques Vert's way too old for her! Personally I don't think the dress she's seen is formal enough for a wedding, as a previous poster mentioned, it looks a bit like workwear. She definitely needs to go a bit more glam as Mother of the bride and I don't think wearing cream's a problem.

I don't think the length is a problem either, I'm older than your mum and these are dresses I wore to 2 weddings I went to most recently (one being my Dads') and I wore cream to one of them - strike me down!

specialsubject · 05/02/2018 17:02

If she's got the legs and arms - but it looks like the mock up for a dress rather than the dress itself. Presume it costs about £30?

KimmySchmidt1 · 05/02/2018 17:21

Cream is definitely too close to white and it looks too young and informal to be a mother of the bride outfit - on the day people will judge her and laugh behind her back / think she is tragic for wearing something too close to white and she will feel self conscious. She needs a nice proper MOTB outfit with a little fitted matching jacket and hat.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/3159771-Jacket-or-bolero-or-shawl-Help

I'm wearing this once I find something to go with it!

That would be far too plain for a wedding imo.

Bluelady · 05/02/2018 17:23

Matching jacket and hat? She's 20 years younger than me and I wouldn't wear that!

Whatshallidonowpeople · 05/02/2018 17:23

Unless your mum is 20, it's not suitable
