To take a blanket to the cinema?

Our local cinema is always cold. Always!
I went with DS today and thought about it before hand so put on a vest top underneath a fleece-lined shirt and jeans. I was still shivering and made DS sit on my knee for the last half hour so I could share his body heat Grin. A lady on the same row kept her coat on throughout the whole film.
Are all cinemas cold or just our local one?
Would you complain or just take a blanket next time? Would you judge me if you saw me with one?
Its very hard to enjoy the film when you are shivering!

I've just bought myself a soft black blanket/small throw for my legs, specially for the cinema. Black so it won't be too noticeable when the lights are down unlike the hello kitty one I've been known to take
.

TenancyTroublesAgain · 08/02/2018 20:39

I always find them cold too. Cinemas should be comfortable.

bigbluebus · 08/02/2018 21:08

I haven't been to the cinema for years - well not a multi screen type cinema anyway. But I always found them cold. I was the one carrying my coat in in the middle Summer so I could put it on during the film. Everyone else seemed to manage in t-shirts.

If I had to take a blanket to an indoor cinema, I wouldn't go. Because it would be a crap cinema.

Outdoor cinema is obviously different!

My local cinema is kept at a decent temperature most of the time, but there is a bigger swankier Vue cinema in the next town over that all my mates want to go to.

But that big modern cinema is always freezing so I refuse to go. I'd rather go to my shabby local one than freeze under the stupid air conditioning unit at the Vue.

I don't judge you in fact I think I may love you. This is such a brilliant idea. If loads of us do it the ones without blankets will be the odd ones.

BlackPeppercorn · 08/02/2018 21:40

I always take a blanket with me. I get some odd looks when some people recognise the Tui Holidays logo on it. I wandered off an overnight transatlantic flight in 2003 with the blanket wrapped around me, now it's my 'going to the pictures' blankie.

rupertpenryswife · 08/02/2018 21:54

I'm taking a blanket next time now, I love some of the ideas here wine, hot water bottles my idea of heaven, think I could survive a crappy kids film now.

bimbobaggins · 08/02/2018 22:00

Oh I’m going to take a blanket the next time I go. I’ve wondered if they keep it cold to stop people falling asleep

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/02/2018 22:00

Just don't get so comfy you fall asleep - I still get laughed at by DD for snoozing through both Chipwrecked and Rio 2.

I blame the rubbish films though.

MrsPreston11 · 08/02/2018 22:13

I wear my huge shawl/scarf thing to the cinema in winter. It’s basically a blanket.

PushMyButton · 08/02/2018 22:20

I do!

BuckysRoboticArm · 08/02/2018 22:35

Don't go much since I had dd but yes, always shivering and wearing my coat plus dp's jacket draped over me. I layered up last time too!

I am definitely doing the blanket and hot water bottle thing next time.

Maybe my heated wheatbag for my neck too. And mini pillow. And some fluffy socks. And a little cooler bag for cheaper snacks and drinks.

Fuck it, I'll just stay home and Netflix.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/02/2018 22:39

I always take a pashmina

A small hot water bottle sounds good

Pumpkintopf · 08/02/2018 22:42

What you need is a trapper hat to go with your blanket. You can only wear them in the dark anyway. They are the warmest thing you can wear on your head other than a live cat.

Love this @UpstartCrow !

Definitely take a blanket Smile

Just lying here eyeing my very fluffy Ragdoll, wondering if I could balance her on my head for the duration of a film. 😸
