To take a blanket to the cinema?

Our local cinema is always cold. Always!
I went with DS today and thought about it before hand so put on a vest top underneath a fleece-lined shirt and jeans. I was still shivering and made DS sit on my knee for the last half hour so I could share his body heat Grin. A lady on the same row kept her coat on throughout the whole film.
Are all cinemas cold or just our local one?
Would you complain or just take a blanket next time? Would you judge me if you saw me with one?
Its very hard to enjoy the film when you are shivering!

When things were tricky with DS2’s sleeping I always took a blanket and snoozed through the £1 kids films!

Flamingo84 · 03/02/2018 20:42

Ours is always freezing (and I’m always cold anyway!). One time I wrapped up in my jumpers and coat and the air con was broken. It was like sitting in the Caribbean! Since then I layer!

Theimpossiblegirl · 03/02/2018 20:45

I take huge thick scarf/wrap and last time I was at the theatre (also cold) I saw someone doing exactly the same with the same scarf.

LiveLifeWithPassion · 03/02/2018 20:49

If I had a blanket, I’d just fall asleep. I have a pavlov’s dog’s reaction.
Blankets = sleep.

We book the seats for two at the back and take a blanket Grin

DailyMailareDicks · 03/02/2018 20:53

I always take a pillow, but really discreetly. I have a cotton shopping bag that a square pillow fits in nicely. I carry it like a bag, then use it as a pillow. Saved me from back pain loads of times! Grin

What you need is a trapper hat to go with your blanket. You can only wear them in the dark anyway. They are the warmest thing you can wear on your head other than a live cat.

manicinsomniac · 03/02/2018 21:01

Don't see why not. I never take my coat and scarf off. I don't think it's that cinemas are cold though, I think it's because we sit still in them for longer than we would anywhere else. Even theatres have intervals. I'm never cold when I go into the cinema but always freezing by an hour in.

Glitteryfrog · 03/02/2018 21:02

I've got a massive scarf which doubles as a blanket.
I wear it to the cinema and snuggle up in it.

Exiguous · 03/02/2018 21:32

I bring a blanket to the cinema. It has those reclining seats and is often really cold.

ClareB83 · 03/02/2018 21:42

I do this.

Lifeisbeautiful2 · 03/02/2018 21:46

If it’s a well known chain of cinema, our local is the same. At one film, it was so cold we walked out and refused to sit through it. Got free tickets to come back, it was ridiculous.

Trashboat · 03/02/2018 21:48

Our cinema is always bloody freezing and we go alot. It had never crossed my mind to take a blanket!! Just sat there dithering like a divvy!!

I am so taking a blanket next time! Thanks OP!

Trashboat · 03/02/2018 21:49

I'm talking about Cineworld. Wonder if they're all cold.

stellenbosch · 03/02/2018 21:50

Does it sell wine??? Then you'll be fine! 🤣

mumonashoestring · 03/02/2018 21:51

I suspect the air con in most is permanently set to 'room full of sweaty people'. The only reason I went to see the first Pirates of the Caribbean film was that it was the only place in the middle of Manchester city centre in the middle of a heatwave that we could guarantee being nice and cold (there were only 4 people in the cinema, well worth the ticket price!).

reallybadidea · 03/02/2018 21:53

My favourite cinema has sofas for seating and provides blankets to snuggle under Grin

mumeeee · 03/02/2018 21:55

The cinemas round here are always warm

Hippyshubby · 03/02/2018 21:56

I've lived abroad and in the posted screens of the top cinemas you got given a cushion and blanket.

Maryann1975 · 03/02/2018 21:57

Another cold cinema here. I use my coat as a blanket and think about what clothes I’m wearing before I go. I’d never thought to take a blanket, but it’s a good idea!

Blankiefan · 03/02/2018 21:57

I've found my people.

I find that a poncho is an acceptable substitute when I can't take a blanket somewhere.

UterusUterusGhali · 03/02/2018 21:57

I wear a massive woolly scarf and use that.
I'm pinching the cushion in a bag idea!

I take full-on blankets to the rugby. The kids took the piss last time, but still snuggled under them. It's always fucking freezing.

RidingWindhorses · 03/02/2018 22:06

Mine is freezing. I wear my puffa - which is 600 fill goose down designed for Midwest subzero winters. It's the only thing that keeps me warm enough. Grin

WitchIwasaWitch18 · 03/02/2018 22:07

Cineworld here too and it's always so uncomfortably cold we rarely go. Last time was Hidden Figures. Pinching the blanket idea. Why didn't I think of that?
