To take a blanket to the cinema?

Our local cinema is always cold. Always!
I went with DS today and thought about it before hand so put on a vest top underneath a fleece-lined shirt and jeans. I was still shivering and made DS sit on my knee for the last half hour so I could share his body heat Grin. A lady on the same row kept her coat on throughout the whole film.
Are all cinemas cold or just our local one?
Would you complain or just take a blanket next time? Would you judge me if you saw me with one?
Its very hard to enjoy the film when you are shivering!

Always freezing. I don’t know it is about cinemas. It’s not like you’re moving and able to warm up. I usually put my coat over me as blanket keep my winter hat on and wear double socks. If I saw you with a blanket I’d come and ask to share. Good idea! .

Our local Everyman, so sofas rather than seats, has lovely blankets.

Best cinema chain ever.

RobotGoat · 03/02/2018 22:11

I always take a blanket to the cinema. Coat doesn't cut it for me! I find that the dark makes me sleepy, and if I'm cold on top of that then I just can't stay focused on the film, no matter how good it is. Never thought that people might think it's odd. I keep it in my bag until the lights go down, so nobody really sees anyway.

The last time we went was through MN, we were too hot! 😂

PeanuttyButter · 03/02/2018 22:18

I’ve been to the cinema twice this month after not going for years.. both times i too have been freezing!
The second time I dressed for the occasion and kept my coat on. I also put DH ‘bog coat’ on my knee too and still was just ok.

Never thought about it. Deffo bringing a blanket next time I go to the cinema

Darcydashwood · 03/02/2018 22:23

I wear a big pashmina that as soon as the lights go out turns into a blanket. My OH actually calls it my "cinema blanket". If it's acceptable for on planes it's acceptable for at the cinema 👍

BuzzKillington · 03/02/2018 22:24

I always lay my coat and dh's over my lap.

Blanket is a good idea.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 03/02/2018 22:36

Bloody hell, ours (Vue) is hotter than hot. I always wear very lightweight cargo pants that I can roll up into shorts and a vest top. Still Far Too Fecking Hot.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 03/02/2018 22:41

I always take a blanket and warm socks!

SharronNeedles · 03/02/2018 22:45

I have a cinema blanket 😁

megletthesecond · 03/02/2018 22:46

Yanbu.

Our cinema is fine in the evening when it's busy but freezing easier in the day.

Knaffedoff · 03/02/2018 22:50

I enjoy a flask of tea and I would take a blanket if I could be arsed!!!!

Bobbins43 · 03/02/2018 22:53

Get them to turn the air conditioning off? Or turn the heating up?

clary · 03/02/2018 22:54

Blanket is a brilliant idea. Some cinemas seem to be super air conditioned, I usually have my coat over my lap but a blanket is better 😃

I’ve taken blankets and a small cushion on occasion.

blackbunny · 03/02/2018 23:14

Reading this thread reminds me of an experience I had on a cruise ship holiday...we reclined on sun loungers out on deck under a warm starry night, huge screen, lots of snuggly blankets, and the waiters brought us pizza and hot chocolate. Bliss.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/02/2018 11:51

I can sit in the cinema and feel fine or warm (or even hot) from the waist up, but with freezing legs. So it's definitely a blanket for me. I always have a throw on the sofa whatever the time of year for my cold legs.

123namechanged · 04/02/2018 13:02

I used my coat as a blanket last time because I was freeeeezing!!

If I saw someone with a blanket, i would be kicking myself for not thinking of doing that!

I wouldn't judge - I'd just be jealous!

Yerroblemom1923 · 04/02/2018 13:07

I'd nod off if I got too comfy! I do like to take my shoes off though and sit on my legs iyswim!

Thischatnameisalreadyinuse · 04/02/2018 13:08

I have always found cinemas too cold. Every single one I've been to. It puts me off going. I think a blanket is a good idea.

UserDeleted · 04/02/2018 13:18

I always take a blanket and cushion!

No one bats an eyelid.

Cavelady67 · 04/02/2018 13:22

Nope. I always take a blanket or a big pashmina or something. Fecking freezing in our local cinema!

JustHereForThePooStories · 04/02/2018 13:24

My cinema provides blankets- they’re in plastic bags and you get a freshly washed one each time.

They also have huge red leather recliners, two seater couches, and beds! They bring your snacks to your little seat-side table, and their cocktails are very good.
