..to want to report some people for claiming falsely too much child tax and working tax credits?

they drive me mad and i hate the fact that they have actually told me they are scamming the CTC and WTC people.

He earns a fortune in computers and she is a SAHM and pregnant with her 4th.

They are not married and have claimed that she is working a few hours a week with fulltime childcare paid for as his PA. They have given a different address for him so it looks like she is a tenant in his house.

So CTC and WTC think she is struggling to get by on a few hours a week, forking out on nurseries and she will get the full whack of money....over £900 per month.

She drives a 4x4 EVIL Lexus and is always showing off bout the holidays they have and their 6 bedroom house blah blah blah and I think I am going to grass them up.

What do you think?

These people have done nothing to the op, only bragged about something that annoyed her.

Burgling peopls houses is a different matter and nothing at all to do with this. It's a ridiculous comparison.

The smiley face emoticon suggested to me that she took pleasure in reporting them.

Who is she saying is looking after the kids though ? Doesn't the childcarer have to fill in forms and sign to say that the hours and amount being paid is correct ??

powder28 · 03/05/2007 17:03

They shouldnt have bragged, no, I agree, but bragging is not a crime. If people want to feed you the 'I'm considerably richer than you' line then that's their concern. Just leave them to it.

collision · 03/05/2007 18:15

I didnt get pleasure from reporting them but I am glad I did something to ensure that this cheating will stop...hence the emoticon.

I wasnt doing this out of spite and if you must know they are friends of ours and the amount of time she spends going on about her £40, 000 car drives me mad when I know she is getting over £1000 per month of money which she is not entitled to!

Are you doing dodgy deals Powder? Is this why me reporting it is winding you up so much?

Other friends of ours, who are self employed, have recently been investigated by the taxman and she said it was so invasive and stressful and yet they had done nothing wrong and struggle to get by each month.

Why should these other people get away with it? you say they wont get far....but they are!!

No need to explain yourself. Like I said, you know what you are doing.

goodnanny · 03/05/2007 18:40

well done collision, dont listen to those who said you shouldnt have done it .
nobody should be cheating hard working people out of their taxes.

maximummummy · 03/05/2007 21:31

yeah good for you collision

by the way ,no ; childcare providers don't have to fill in any forms about hours peoples kids attend their setting

ridiculous but true

it is quite a regular thing for people to scam with childminders details

collision · 03/05/2007 21:41

That is ridiculous! They go on what you tell them so you could say you have 40 hour per week childcare and lie!!!!

OP posts:
helenhismadwife · 03/05/2007 22:22

they say crime doesnt pay, it does and seems to pay very nicely as well if you can afford a £40,000 car not many people have that

CristinaTheAstonishing · 03/05/2007 22:25

regarding childcare provision, you have to give a name and address and also the registration number of the childcare provider, as it can only be approved and registered childcare, e.g. not relatives. If your childcare situation changes by more or less than £10 per week than the amount you claimed initially you have to tell them of the change.

As for being employed by her DP, he'd have to provide a payroll reference number for her and a PAYE tax reference number. I don't see how these numbers can be made up or that they won't be followed-up eventually. I think if they are being dishonest then you've helped speed the process until they are found out.

NadineBaggott · 03/05/2007 22:28

I knew you;d be here expat!

I'm with yer!

expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 22:29

'Burgling peopls houses is a different matter and nothing at all to do with this. It's a ridiculous comparison. '

Well, burgling is theft.

And so is tax fraud.

CarGirl · 03/05/2007 22:30

when recieved maternity allowance I received a query from CTC as to why my declared income was different to the income provided by tax office - so if they are getting away with this sort of thing then it is probably thru tax evasion too.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 22:32

Hiya, Nadine .

powder28 · 03/05/2007 22:35

oh expat, chill out

UCM · 03/05/2007 22:35

Look, if they are your friends, you shouldn't do it. Tell them that you think it's wrong instead. Explain that there are people in need blah blah blah. If they have a conscience then they will stop.

It is wrong, and I note that if someone complains about their taxes being used on xyz on here usually, they are shouted down as being unreasonable.

But to everyone who has to pay tax on here, this is happening all over Britain at the moment and yes you are paying for it. Even those of you who are SAHP, your working partner is paying for this so it still comes out of your budget. Just think maybe our tax could come down a little if people like this were not screwing the state.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 03/05/2007 22:37

It is not the scammers that get me wound up so much the thought of all the people who don't claim what they are entitled too because they either can't understand the forms or are too proud to claim 'benefits' thousands of elderly people for instance who could be lifted out of poverty by pension credits. The real scandal is how difficult means tested benefits are to understand and it is the very people who most need them that can't understand the system and miss out - there ar millions of pounds of unclaimed benefits. That is the real crime in my opinion.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 22:37

Don't see where I'm riled up just because I disagree w/theft, powder.

MascaraOHara · 03/05/2007 22:38

MadeForIt - People doing this means there is less provision for those who really need it.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 22:38

Exactly, Mascara, and even more complicated forms to complete.

Just started the DLA process for DD1 and it's a 'mare!

Blondilocks · 03/05/2007 22:39

How annoying, especially when so many less well off people play fair.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 03/05/2007 22:40

Expat - do you know you can do the DLA online nowadays? We let DS's DLA lapse for a couple of years but i got down to it and completed the online form a few nights ago, so much easier.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 22:42

Yes, Cristina!

People here have been so helpful!

Am also working with and getting help from DD1's HV, nursery nurses and paed, thankfully.

MascaraOHara · 03/05/2007 22:42

I loathe this sort of activity.

I think the upper limit for receiving these benefits is £55k
