they drive me mad and i hate the fact that they have actually told me they are scamming the CTC and WTC people.

He earns a fortune in computers and she is a SAHM and pregnant with her 4th.

They are not married and have claimed that she is working a few hours a week with fulltime childcare paid for as his PA. They have given a different address for him so it looks like she is a tenant in his house.

So CTC and WTC think she is struggling to get by on a few hours a week, forking out on nurseries and she will get the full whack of money....over £900 per month.

She drives a 4x4 EVIL Lexus and is always showing off bout the holidays they have and their 6 bedroom house blah blah blah and I think I am going to grass them up.

What do you think?

So if someone were using burglary or car theft as a career choice, we should just let them continue to do it, because if they got caught it would affect their kids.

.

powder28 · 01/05/2007 12:44

yes

expatinscotland · 01/05/2007 12:51

Oh, okay. So no onus on a parent for behaving within the bounds of the law, then.

They can just turn to stealing for money and everyone else in society should just put up with it because if lawbreaking parents get caught it can have detrimental affects on their children.

Well, hell, why bother going to work and being honest then?

I have kids, I should be allowed to get money in whatever way I please.

Interesting outlook.

dressed as morality.

To quote the 80's reggae star SNOW

Some of the reasoning on here is very odd and makes me !!

'What goes around comes around.'

They will only get found out if someone reports them. It wont have an effect on the children because it means they can stop cheating the taxman and CTC and WTC and get off their backsides and be honest and work!!

So what if the son doesnt have the latest electric quadbike for the garden? He already has 2 and a digger and a jeep!!

Could you honestly not do something and let these people cheat their taxes and claim benefits they are not entitle to!

For those of you who say not to say anything, I am speechless really!

Oh, yes, I'm really envious of criminals.

Uh huh.

That's exactly it.

MadeForIt · 01/05/2007 14:36

why else should it bother you? ex pat.

Live and let live.

Why sayings like this should make you collision I do not know. They are age old pearls of wisdom. Which is why they are so often used.

But each to their own... altho then there would be little point in any debate.

Jbck · 01/05/2007 19:49

tax evasion line if you think he's dodgy. Couldn't see similar for tax credits but the general helpline (if you can get through) should be able to direct you - 0845 300 3900 if you feel morally obliged to do something about it.

quadrophenia · 01/05/2007 19:57

can i just say its hard for it to catch up with them naturally, as the tax credits people are not actually allowed to liase with the income tax people so only have the info regarding what yuo earn that you provide them with. This is crackers i know but when we were paid wrongly, i pointed out that they had all our tax info as they are linked to the tax office and they said that under data protection they were not allowed to get info that way.

I know at least two people who scam tax credits and who have got away with it for a while now it makes me very

wheresthemerlot · 01/05/2007 20:00

.

I always assumed that they had information about our income - when I began work last year and stopped again this year, they were fast enough to send me a letter saying I could ring them anytime if I had something to tell them.

LadyMacbeth · 01/05/2007 20:12

Grass 'em.

Ambi · 01/05/2007 21:11

OMG do it, those poor kids will suffer without their private education because they're scamming the government...

Wow this really pisses me off, they deserve to be shopped, give me the details and I'll do it myself.

For those who are defending what they are doing for the sake of their children, what example are this couple setting for their children. This gov. is getting scammed all over from benefit cheats,

Need to go and chill for a bit...

morocco · 01/05/2007 21:20

not unreasonable to want to report them but I'd steer well clear if it were me

Eleusis · 01/05/2007 21:35

Do it!

They deserve to be caught. Too bad the anonymous hotline doesn't offer a reward.

helenhismadwife · 01/05/2007 21:41

I would report them, its that attitude of its nothing to do with me that allows people to get away with all sorts, somewhere along the line it does affect us all, we all pay for it.

OP posts:
powder28 · 03/05/2007 16:41

Its amazing that when someone is concerned about a child being smacked and asks if they should intervene, everyone says mind your own business, but people are completely prepared to screw other peoples lives up over money.

collision · 03/05/2007 16:43

eh?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 16:47

Hmm, isn't it sort of the people who chose to break the law who screw up their own lives?

powder28 · 03/05/2007 16:52

If thats how people want to live their lives, good luck to them, they won't get very far in life.

But taking pleasure in reporting someone when you may not know the full story is terrible.

They would have got found out in the end anyway. I wonder if the op had been a close friend to this family would she have still reported them.

But then, I suppose she knows what she is doing.

expatinscotland · 03/05/2007 16:54

They sound like theyr're getting pretty far to me!

She didn't take pleasure in it!

They're breaking the law.

And they won't get found out in the end of no one reports them.

So, basically, if someone came and burgled your house, but you found out they had kids, then they shouldn't be prosecuted, on now, their kids' might be affected.

Yeah, right!

You'd just take the loss, becuase your insurance company wouldn't pay out for sure.

Gimme a break!
