To think about going to the doctor

I put this in aibu because it's very active on here.
I started feeling dizzy in the night and it hasn't gone away.
When I get up I am swaying all over the place and everything is spinning. I also feel sick not excessively but last night I did vomit. I had similar couple of times before but never this bad.

It is better when lying down but I can feel it lingering if you know what I mean.

Sounds like vertigo I've had a couple of incidents like that with my ear infection.

Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 07:05

It's horrible should I go to the doctor it isn't going away and I'm meant to be in work at 2

Yes they can probably give you anti sickness pills. Make sure you're safe to drive .

greendale17 · 03/02/2018 07:15

You shouldn’t be driving

Littlefish · 03/02/2018 07:32

It could be labrynthitis which is a nasty middle/inner ear condition. I've had it before and it's really unpleasant. I don't think there's a cure either. You just have to wait for it to go away. Mine lasted for 3 weeks. I agree that you shouldn't be driving.

ragged · 03/02/2018 08:03

You have to take day off work if it doesn't get better by 1pm or so.

Ménière's Disease?

Lost list of possibles here with some possible self-treatment. Sorry, docs can't do much about single attacks for most of the others.

Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 08:28

Thanks for link ragged. I have to let work know by 10am latest

Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 08:30

I have Googled and Googled and it could be a few things. I don't have any feelings of a ear infection so don't think it's to do with the ears

RedHelenB · 03/02/2018 08:31

If you're still.dizzy now I would ring in sick.

stickytoffeevodka · 03/02/2018 08:31

It could be vertigo.

My mum gets this, as does a colleague of mine and neither of them can work, drive or even get downstairs when they're having an attack. It's horrible and can last a few days.

I think there's medication you can take so I would get yourself a GP appointment when you're better.

RedHelenB · 03/02/2018 08:32

My ndn got vertigo one year out of the blue. She really suffered poor thing. It could be the dizziness is you about to come down with something.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 03/02/2018 08:34

My memory of labyrinthitis is that my ears didn't hurt at all. But the feeling of the world spinning was so intense that even turning over in bed would give me a strong enough rocking sensation to make me sick.

Rumpledfaceskin · 03/02/2018 08:35

Go to doc, if it’s labyrinthitis (inner ear related) it will take a while to recover and you’ll need a docs note. It not then will need checking anyway. Sorry OP hope you feel better soon.

Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 08:52

No appointments left at docs. I have just called in sick

OP posts:
Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 08:54

Bit anxious about it actually as I neglect myself in general bad diet, overweight, diabetes untreated, underactive thyroid, high blood pressure psoriasis etc

OP posts:
Crumbs1 · 03/02/2018 08:54

Sounds like labyrinthitis - see a GP and avoid driving.

Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 08:54

Untreated diabetes that it

OP posts:
Lucky6266 · 03/02/2018 08:57

I honestly don't think it's ear related that's my gut feeling.

OP posts:
LoniceraJaponica · 03/02/2018 09:00

Why are you ignoring your diabetes? Hmm

kimlo · 03/02/2018 09:04

how is your hearing? Do you have any buzzing sounds?

Lie down and look at one fixed point that should help you to feel a bit better. The doctor can give you tablets, is there anyway you can get to a walk in center?

PlainWhiteTee · 03/02/2018 09:06

Definitely sounds like labyrinthitis. I've had it a couple of times, it is a viral infection affecting the inner ear but is completely painless, so you wouldn't notice anything different in your ears.

JustDanceAddict · 03/02/2018 09:06

Definitely vertigo. I get it and it’s hortible. It usually wears off after a few hours.
Could be result of inner ear problems, have you had a cold recently? It’s a symptom rather than an illness in itself. Worth seeing gp
If you haven’t had it before. If it’s labyrinthitis it can go on for a bit.

humblesims · 03/02/2018 09:07

do you have someone with you? you shouldnt really ignore the Diabetes obviously sure you know that. Can you call someone if you get worse to come sit with you?

JustDanceAddict · 03/02/2018 09:08

You wouldn’t get pain with it so that’s not an indicator and don’t drive!!!
