To think this would look tacky in a hallway?

I'm 50/50 on it. I love it, but does it look tacky?

We live in a 20 year old house with a proper staircase, not like the one in the pic.

To think this would look tacky in a hallway?

I like Banksy's work. But given his political messages, buying a mass produced reproduction seems a bit missing the point?

LambMadras · 02/02/2018 19:11

That would make me jump every time I walked past it

RedialCallHold · 02/02/2018 19:16

Not my personal taste but I do like wall stickers, they're great, relatively cheap and when you get bored just peel off and throw away, much easier than having to change wallpaper or repaint an awkward area like a stairwell. If you like it go for it, if you're only 50/50 though wait a couple of weeks to think it over.

Mummaofboys · 02/02/2018 19:16

I like a Banksy as much as the next person but I think it looks very tacky, sorry.

ArchchancellorsHat · 02/02/2018 19:18

It's not my taste but if you like it, go for it. I really do dislike that awful staircase though. I couldn't use one like that at all.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 02/02/2018 19:20

It would make me jump too. I put a large Santa at the top of our stairs over Christmas and he kept catching me off guard and startling me Grin

She just doesn't look that bothered that she's let go of her balloon either.

Madbengalmum · 02/02/2018 19:21

Its a bit done in my opinion

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 02/02/2018 19:23

I don't think it's tacky but I do think it's a bit creepy.
People should have what get like in their own homes.

CoolCarrie · 02/02/2018 19:23

We went to the Banksy/ Dali gallery in Amsterdam and I got a huge print of the monkey with a sandwich board on saying “ Laugh now, but one day we’ll be in charge “ I love it as it makes me smile and pisses off my mil as she doesn’t believe in evolution. Do what makes you happy, it would be good in a child’s room.

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 02/02/2018 19:24

They not get, this phone hates me!

SmallBlondeMama · 02/02/2018 19:24

Would look so cool in a daycare or school! Not sure if I would put it in my house.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 02/02/2018 19:25

Aye the staircase Archchancellor - it looks positively dangerous. You wouldn't want to rush down that with fluffy slippers on.

AnyFucker · 02/02/2018 19:28

It's a bit "done" ?

Have never seen it before in my life

I quite like it. Wouldn't have it myself bit it's not a permanent defacing of your house (hello spiral staircases and conservstories!) so do it if you like and get shut when you are fed up with it

e1y1 · 02/02/2018 19:29

It’s something I’d expect to see in somewhere like a Nursery or a children’s Hospital, so not keen.

I don’t like wall art though, especially those sayings/slogans that every one seems to have (sorry if anyone has them).

But if you like, then why not? It’s your home.

Whatwouldkeithrichardsdo · 02/02/2018 19:31

Don't live to please others. Have what you like and two fingers to anyone who says otw.

fruitbrewhaha · 02/02/2018 19:35

BigFatGoalie
Yes I did, but not the real one obviously. I mean as in there was a time when it was popular to have Van Gogh or Monet prints on the wall, or Dali etc. Clearly these Athena prints weren't the originals and looked a bit naff.

SwarmOfCats · 02/02/2018 19:37

It’s your house; if you like it, that’s all that matters! (My house is full of insane crap that most people would likely think is horrible, but I love it!)

BackforGood · 02/02/2018 19:37

Not a fan, but your house, your choice.
Would only be redecorating if you were to sell, so no huge deal.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/02/2018 19:38

Looks creepy to me. Spooky.

But it's your house, do what you want.

apostropheuse · 02/02/2018 19:39

I think it's bloody awful. Very twee.

Helllllooooooo · 02/02/2018 19:39

Tacky. I think wall stickers anywhere but a kids room are.

But I plan on having a Harry Potter downstairs loo so some might say I am tacky too lol

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 02/02/2018 19:41

Agree about some of the sayings/slogans on walls.

My friend has RELAX in red letters in her hallway. It always makes me feel a bit tense.

HmmmHashtag · 02/02/2018 19:43

I had this for the last 7 years, was a very emotional moment removing her! Go for it Smile

RidingWindhorses · 02/02/2018 19:43

Awful.

ladybirdie26 · 02/02/2018 19:44

If it makes you and your home happy do it - sod what everyone else thinks! I have pig ornaments scattered around my house that everyone comments on and I couldn't give two hoots! Grin
