To think this would look tacky in a hallway?

I'm 50/50 on it. I love it, but does it look tacky?

We live in a 20 year old house with a proper staircase, not like the one in the pic.

I'm not keen on any wall art like that unless it's in a child's room so IMO it is tacky.

BUT

It's not my house, it's yours! Decorate it however you want.

Do whatever makes you happy.
A lot of people hate grey rooms, including someone mentioning it on this thread. But I love them, so I have them. My MIL insisted they were cold and too dark and would make my house sad. Well, it's What I wanted and makes me happy that it's decorated the way I want.
I think we'll stickers are a pain in the arse and constantly trying to peel off, and it's my only reason for disliking them.

I hate wall stickers as a general rule, unless requested by child for in their room. But I do like this one, however I think I like it because it’s a beautiful staircase in that photo. Probably would look tacky in most others though. But as others say, if you like it go for it, it’s your home.

If you like it have it. I think it's nice. I'm currently decorating my stairs and will be painting them a very pale grey. I might look into a bit of banksy art for mine.

Banksy is a bit passé now, but it is nice. I wouldn't do it, but it's your home, who bloody cares what anyone else thinks. As long as you know it's Banksy. Because otherwise it would seem a bit odd, because one day you'll get some 'art' type who sneers at it and talks about Banksy and you won't know what they're going on about.

It's not 'tacky'. But it's - I don't know - it looks as if you are trying to put across a particular image of yourself, as quirky perhaps.

I like the original image but I am not a fan of wall stickers. That said I have a grey kitchen, which is apparently now 'over'. But grey is one of my favourite colours and has been for a long time, so I don't really care whether it's current or not. I decorate my house for me - so have what you want because you like it, not because Homes & Gardens says it's on trend.

That sort of artwork looks great on open walls as in your image.

It will look very different on a staircase with bannisters. could you ask someone to photoshop it onto a picture of your staircase or 'shop your staircase onto it, so you can see what it looks like before you take the plunge.

I like Banksy's work but as a PP said, Balloon Girl is rather ubiquitous.

I prefer this one with the swing.

At least you didn't go for Queen Victoria!

Not to my taste but if you like it then go for it.
And in any event it makes a change from the various different shades of grey that everyone seems to have now.

It couldn't be further from my personal taste ... but it's your hallway, not mine, so yours is the opinion that counts. As for 'tacky' - there is no universal arbiter of taste who has the right to deem things tacky or otherwise.

No way! It reminds me if an episode if the X Files in which the ghost of a dead child led another child to its death with a red balloon. It terrified me & this would give me nightmares!

Awful imho. Quite creepy. But I will never see it, you have to live with it so you liking it is what matters.
