It means the poster is suspected of being a troll.

Troll

Hendrytastic · 01/02/2018 23:05

I have no idea, I've never heard that expression. Maybe like a caveman? What context was it used in?

Hendrytastic · 01/02/2018 23:05

Never mind Blush

JeReviens · 01/02/2018 23:06

Trolls are generally thought to have hairy hands. And hairy parts in general. It's kind of code for announcing the presence of one.

scaevola · 01/02/2018 23:07

In terms of 'things people haven't heard before but which are unmistakeable phrases to many' (and to nick from another thread currently in Active)

'Those who are hairy of hand do it under bridges'

SparklyMagpie · 01/02/2018 23:10

Oh everybody look at OP's username rolls eyes

BringOnTheScience · 01/02/2018 23:11

It's a phrase older than internet trolling!

It used to be said that masturbation caused hairy palms. That became a way of accusing suspected pervs online. Then it evolved into the way of accusing trolls, because of the way story book trolls look.

NotDavidTennant · 01/02/2018 23:15

It comes from "hairy-handed trucker". It used to be an in-joke on MN many years ago that someone who wasn't who they seemed (i.e. a troll) was really a hairy-handed trucker.
