Does anyone know where it's filmed?

Did Topsy and Tim's mum ever have the baby? I saw an episode where they finished school for the holidays and she was heavily pregnant, but I never saw her have the baby.

I was watching this recently with my friend's toddler (mine are teens now so I've not watched kids tv for years) - I thought Topsy and Tim were rag dolls!! How long have they been actual humans????

Slitherout · 02/02/2018 08:10

You're thinking of Rosie and Jim BigSandy, Topsy and Tim have always been precocious kids Grin

RubyLennoxExists · 02/02/2018 08:11

My DC are adults so I missed the horror of TV T&T. However I am still scarred by the books; it sounds like the TV people did a very good job of transferring all the irritating factors of the books to screen.
I always thought the mother ( I don't think she even had a name in the books?) was a Stepford wife.

Jammycustard · 02/02/2018 08:11

Came on to say I thought it was somewhere near Hounslow as one episode showed a London bus and I excitedly googled it, but someone has done amazing work finding their actual house!
So no more T n T will be made?

Woollypinksocks · 02/02/2018 08:17

I know I'm a bit miffed that no more will be made.

I needed to see how Joy coped with twins AND a newborn.

Slither - thank you! You're right, Rosie and Jim, thought I was going mad Grin

DuckBilledAardvark · 02/02/2018 09:55

DH thinks Topsy and Tim's Dad needs to get a better job so he can install a decent kitchen in the new house. 😂

MrsHathaway · 02/02/2018 10:59

I think they adopted Tansy and she was mixed race from the pictures but skin colour never mentioned in the words.

dingdongdigeridoo · 02/02/2018 11:10

Topsy and Tim’s Dad is probably crippled by his mortgage. Even their smaller house that wasn’t good enough for Joy is worth 650k. No wonder he’s a bit of a bumbling idiot. He’s probably trying to hide his stress and rage.

I agree that their mum needs to properly yell at them sometimes. Putting an egg in the airing cupboard? You bloody kids.

Has anyone seen the Dave Gorman Modern Life is Goodish about Topsy and Tim?
He makes a good point about how the names 'Topsy' and 'Tim' are not from the same shelf in the name shop, and how anyone who would choose the name 'Topsy' would not choose the name 'Tim'. Always makes me think of a mumsnet baby names thread - If I like the name Tim for a boy, what girl names would I like?

He also points out that when they move all the neighbours come out to wave them off with heartfelt goodbyes. Yet if you look at the map on the opening credits they have literally moved round the corner.

SparklyMagpie · 02/02/2018 12:11

KNain YES!!! Haha I love that episode and when he shows the clip of all the neighbours coming out running to wave them off and they've only gone round the corner 😂😂

Off topic but I also adore his episode with the toot toots (which me and my friend are thinking about trying on my ex) 😂

AmethystRaven · 02/02/2018 12:16

See, told you it wasn't a 2 bed. It's rather nice, actually!

Lewis from Hollyoaks and Joy??! Mind blown.

"Not from the same shelf in the name shop" is a fantastic phrase which I understand exactly!

Theory one: Topsy's name is really Catherine or something but Topsy is a baby name she never quite shook off. Tim is Timothy and doesn't get called Bunny any more.

Theory two: sometimes you hear on Baby Names that he names the boys and she names the girls. Joy chose Topsy and Brian chose Tim. They "go" because they start with the same letter.

DuckBilledAardvark · 02/02/2018 12:54

I've just realised that the father ISN'T played by Peter Serafinowicz 😳 I really thought he was the Dad!

Bootikin · 02/02/2018 13:01

We live on the street where it's filmed, it's in Lower Sunbury. Most of the filming was done 2013/2014c The house where the filming was done has since been given a very unsympathetic exterior makeover (and interior refurb, done nicely). The house is currently on the market for £690k.

MrsHathaway · 02/02/2018 13:16

He's about a foot too short Confused Isn't Peter Serafinowicz about 6'7"?

MrsHathaway · 02/02/2018 13:19

He's 6'4" apparently. Brian Odell is definitely not.

SparklyMagpie · 02/02/2018 13:20

DuckBilledAardvark Shock

I can't believe you thought he was ! Grin

They look nothing alike

SparklyMagpie · 02/02/2018 13:23

Apologies, I can kind of see why you thought that, for some annoying reason I was picturing Tig's Dad

CappuccinoCake · 02/02/2018 13:25

I was in awe of the small house never mind the big house. No average wage earner could buy a house like that in that location.

Ah yes just seen it's nearly 700000 . Point exactly!

DeadButDelicious · 02/02/2018 13:39

Sometimes just for sport, we mute T&T and dub our own more realistic version. T&T are replaced with naughty, whinier children and a typically harassed mother. But we have no life...

We do something similar. One question, how do you make Tim whinier? Wink

Ktay · 02/02/2018 14:00

@Jammycustard they take quite a lot of artistic licence with the locations so I wouldn’t read too much into bus routes. Their route to school is rather circuitous IRL!

Meeple · 02/02/2018 14:19

This programme drives me mad with how detached from real life it is but I can't help watching it!

Saw one recently where the twins got up one morning and found a stray cat in their house. When they went downstairs, smug mum was making boiled eggs and soldiers having already fully made up her face, blow dried her hair, and put on her beige chinos and perfectly ironed white shirt.

Then they took a photo of the cat and printed out professional high res posters to stick up in the street - the printer didn't jam, run out of ink, or print with lines running down it (like mine!)

I also refuse to believe that T&Ts dad is not actually or even related to Lee Mack!

Isadora2007 · 02/02/2018 14:27

Their sister Tansy in the books just appeared. I’m assuming she was adopted as she was black.
When they get their baby brother Teddy they adopt him. I have the book and it says
“Teddy was darker than Topsy and Tim, but not so dark as Tansy” Confused
He looks almost Chinese perhaps...

Shame they didn’t try to recreate that story for CBeebies! 😂

allthegoodnameshadgone · 02/02/2018 14:27

I though get this was real at one point and only the fact I said to my mum "that it must be why she left East Enders" about the Mum that I now know it's not. ConfusedHmm
