Anyone following this?

OP posts:
MorningCuppa · 22/04/2018 10:07

My heart absolutely does go out to Alfie's parents and their families, I just can't help thinking he might regret all this later down the line, I'm sure there is more to come but I really hope not and hope he spends his time with his son as time is so precious.

littlebillie · 22/04/2018 10:09

I have just read it is so sad. My Dad passed with the aid of medical intervention and his last hours were peaceful. I think the parents and the army want him removed from medication and ventilation this would be a "Victorian" passing and would be very painful to endure and to witness.

God bless Alfie on his journey and may pass in love and peace.

JediStoleMyBike · 22/04/2018 10:11

Someone demanding in the comments that Tom not let the hospital murder Alfie. What the hell is up with these people?

cocoabutterformula · 22/04/2018 10:27

I honestly cannot believe the letter is on FB dear god

stitchglitched · 22/04/2018 10:30

At least the Drs names are redacted I guess. Although some of the army are calling for them to be published.

Is there no process by which the courts can keep the doctors' names confidential so that nobody external can ever get to know them?

FrancisUnderwood · 22/04/2018 10:57

Sorry, is this a new letter which has just appeared?

Babieseverywhere · 22/04/2018 10:59

I assume the letter is part of the supreme court judgement when they denied appeal last week. The non reported to the press section.

Burntout93 · 22/04/2018 11:04

I don't think when the life support is withdrawn TE will be at a stage to accept it - He could have to be removed from the hospital and post attacking posts on facebook in the aftermath.

TidyDancer · 22/04/2018 11:04

I feel sad for Alfie's mum, I believe there is way more at play with the father. There is a lot of info on the dignity4life Facebook page regarding him.

There will not be an outcome like with Charlie Gard on this. The father will not back down even in the face of irrefutable medical evidence. There was a significant amount of appalling behaviour from the barmy army in that case and some terrible comments made by the parents (they continue to do this), but this is nothing compared to what Alfie's father is doing now.

I really hope the hospital has plans in place for protecting their staff after Alfie passes away.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/04/2018 11:06

Thing is this is nothing new. Surely plans have to be drawn up for these situations. Some of the comments are ridiculous! Sad as it is he's not the first child to have this plan made for them so how they can sit and call the doctors and nurses murders and so on.. Though no surprise. Its had the reaction it wanted.
Someone needs to take him aside. How can it be helping them having so much knowledge public.

FrancisUnderwood · 22/04/2018 11:07

Do you think TE will in some way seek revenge on the staff of Alder Hey then @Tidy?

Burntout93 · 22/04/2018 11:07

And I am not entirely sure he would keep a date secret - is he rational enough to fully follow the law?

GrimSqueaker · 22/04/2018 11:07

There's a hell of a lot of "that is what they use in America for the death penalty" on the Army group as well... that's really really going to ever help the parents come to terms with it all isn't it?

TidyDancer · 22/04/2018 11:14

@FrancisUnderwood I think they need to prepare security for their staff. I don't know what anyone involved will do.

FrancisUnderwood · 22/04/2018 11:18

I honestly think almost everyone (Alfie's Army) will very quickly lose interest in this as soon as the media bulbs stop flashing, and I expect TE will disappear to revel in the hero status he has created for himself, within his own echo chamber.

Tessliketrees · 22/04/2018 11:20

Anybody directing people to the Dignity4Alfie page should be ashamed of themselves.

lovetheway · 22/04/2018 11:21

This is awful. I agree with shrimpi - ventilation is a horrible violent invasive process. And in this case, it's going against what the body wants - which is to let go.

At least this has made me start looking into a living will - I have a serious health condition and am terrified of ending up like this.
Poor little boy x

TidyDancer · 22/04/2018 11:22

@FrancisUnderwood long term I suspect you're right. In the immediate aftermath all bets are off imo. These are not smart, rational people who are capable of accepting anything that doesn't fit their own skewed agenda.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/04/2018 11:23

FrancisUnderwoodyep probably go the same way the Charlie gard one went. The odd post of how they miss him and see him in clouds. Which is slightly odd but that aside not much else. They'll jump to the next cause whatever whoever they may be

TidyDancer · 22/04/2018 11:25

I assume that was for my benefit @Tessliketrees. Could you tell me why? The group is informative and rational. It is dangerous and frankly silly to get information from the barmy army who are heavily biased and incapable of rationality.

CocoaGin · 22/04/2018 11:30

According to FB, printing details of your childs death is perfectly acceptable and doesn't breach their code Hmm

All I can see is a man who has never been told No in his life and this is the backlash. He's never going to stop and I feel huge sympathy for the poor Mum of this boy who has been so so silent throughout all of this. I though the Gards behaved very poorly but at least they accepted the legal game was up with some level of grace and retreated into privacy.

Tessliketrees · 22/04/2018 11:31

@TidyDancer

It wasn't just you.

Getting information from that group is no better than getting it from the Army. All the actual information is available on Google from credible sources.

Some of the comments and posts on there have been disgusting, some have been entirely unverified yet the "rational" and "intelligent" posters have no problem believing them despite decrying the Army for doing the same.

I honestly think it's a troll pit, that a group created solely to wind up certain people. It serves no purpose other than to sit round and slag off parents of a dying child while having the audacity to pretend they give a fuck about said child.
