Three days ago and it's already full to the top again!

Feelingchipper · 31/01/2018 23:37

Switching I washing bedsheets every two weeks instead of weekly also helped loads

ConfusedButInLove · 31/01/2018 23:39

Last week on Tuesday I found the bottom.
2 hours later I could have swore my neighbour broke in and gave me her washing. It was nearly overflowing.
Crazy mum/Mrs appeared in all her glory and tears Shock
(I had a really bad week Blush) oops.

TheLastMermaid · 31/01/2018 23:51

The laundry basket - so, the stuff waiting to be washed? Don't you need all that stuff? Why doesn't it get washed for years? What am I missing? I have more laundry than anyone else I know but it all gets washed within 2 days (maybe more if everyone's sick or post-holidays) and the basket's usually emptied every day.

Maybe we're just poorer than the MN majority and don't have enough clothes/bedding etc. to go longer?

c75kp0r · 01/02/2018 00:17

aw poor little poppet - ( other nasty cats stealing her treats).

Allthewaves · 01/02/2018 00:19

Today as i'm 9 loads done since yesterday (but now it all in huge pile on the sofa)

Oldsu · 01/02/2018 00:22

Tuesday I found lots of old single socks and knickers which are now too big for me oh and a lipstick which had dried out

steff13 · 01/02/2018 00:23

I vaguely remember it having a bottom when I bought it...

SaucyJack · 01/02/2018 00:29

Which basket?

The day to day one? The one with clothes no one needs enough to wash but are too important to chuck, or the one that has almost 4 year old DD's baby clothes in?

And let's not even get in to all the piles of worn once but don't need washing clothes that are in the corner of every room.....

DeadMorose · 01/02/2018 00:30

I see it at least once a week. Definitely when I’m sorting it into different colours.
Admittedly only one of my family members doesn’t complain about having nothing to wear - 3 yo DD. Everyone else needs at least 2 pairs of jeans and few t shirts each.

araiwa · 01/02/2018 04:25

Sunday. When i last did a wash

ShowOfHands · 01/02/2018 04:30

All the time. Only things that spend more than 2-3 days in there are whites as I wait to have enough for a full wash which takes around 2-3 weeks maximum.

Cavelady67 · 01/02/2018 07:06

I see the bottom of mine every time I do the laundry GrinI have small laundry baskets on purpose so they don't get used as extra storage.

AnachronisticCorpse · 01/02/2018 07:08

I emptied one a few months ago. It was such a rare event that I posted it on Facebook.

Currently have two overflowing and three full clean ones waiting to be sorted. Laundry is my nemesis.

NewYearNewMe18 · 01/02/2018 07:08

Every evening when a load of washing goes in the machine.

Falmer · 01/02/2018 07:11
  1. Not joking!!
ScreamingValenta · 01/02/2018 07:12

At least once a week! Only two of us in my house; two laundry sacks and the contents are washed whenever they get full.

TealStar · 01/02/2018 07:16

Two or three times a week. It fills up quickly though. Not sure how people can go years without seeing the bottom! The thought of all those dirty clothes festering is gross!

Yerroblemom1923 · 01/02/2018 07:40

There's only 3 of us so not a great deal of washing however the 'handwash only " items hang around at the bottom along with 'whites' until I have time/enough whites to put on a super hot wash etc.
In the summer when we have lovely drying days I have seen it when I'm washing everything in site! (We don't have a tumble dryer so try to arrange my washing according to the weather forecast!)

liz70 · 01/02/2018 07:42

All the time. We have two laundry bags, for lights and darks, and both are emptied regularly.

ferrier · 01/02/2018 07:45

Yesterday and every Wednesday for at least the last ten years. Once you get in the routine it looks after itself really.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/02/2018 07:46

Monday 🤗. It's full now, just off to stick a wash on.

Rachie1973 · 01/02/2018 07:47

There's a bottom? Holy fuck, I thought it was a door to another dimension as it doesn't seem to be visible to the naked eye!

Ratonastick · 01/02/2018 07:49

i bought a machine with a hand wash cycle. I now get to the bottom of the basket fairly regularly (at least once a year) instead of using it for long term storage of once worn hand wash only garments.

RavenLG · 01/02/2018 07:52

ghosty you wash clothes every day? How many people are you washing for to get a full wash? How do you get enough for a white wash or do you wear all one colour? (Genuinely interested as I’ve always got washing but never enough for a full white)

I only have me and DP filling the basket and it’s rarely empty.
