Lego themed wedding?

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 12:14

What would your thoughts be if you were invited to a lego themed wedding. Build your own figures favours, build your own centerpiece, little sets to built whilst waiting on speeches?

Would you find it too childish and silly, or do you think you'd enjoy it as something diffferent?

Of course it's up to you, and you will know whether it's likely to appeal to your own friends and family. Personally I think it's a bit trying too hard to be unique, but then I'm not sold on the idea of wedding 'themes'.

SoMuchToBits · 31/01/2018 15:59

I would love it! I think having sets/bricks on the tables would be a great idea. Something to do, and a talking point for those of us who find making small talk with people we don't know very well a bit hard.

Like littlemiss, I'd also be happy with a Playmobil type wedding. I'm actually quite sad my ds has outgrown Playmobil and sometimes make up scenes with his stuff myself! Blush

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 16:03

I suppose what’s the worst that can happen, people think it’s totally naff and our nephews eat too much Lego on the day. Maybe we will just do the favours thing and have everything else sort of normal 😁

I think it sounds great.

No, not everyone will be into it but I think the enthusiasm of those that will be will drag them into enjoying it Grin

I thinks a really brilliant idea

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 16:19

Thanks for the encouragement! I think I’m really conscious that weddings can be a bit dull and don’t want everyone bored out of their minds the whole time. It’s such pressure 😬

Oh wow, I LOVE the idea of a themed Lego wedding! Not childish at all, all ages can enjoy.
Ignore the grumps, it sounds brilliant. Smile

MiddleClassProblem · 31/01/2018 16:29

But everything is cool when you’re part of a team. We wouldn’t know that if it weren’t for Lego.

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 16:35

So many secret Lego fans in here...

I buy it for my son even if he doesn't want it because I like helping him build stuffBlush

RavenLG · 31/01/2018 16:39

I'd absolutely love it! If you love it go for it. Fuck what other people think it's your wedding and don't look back on it thinking what if!

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 16:50

I do tend to play with some lego as a way to de-stress (quite stressful job) so I may just want to add lego to have something that feels familiar to me since i'm not really looking forward to the wedding, but I don't want to make it worse by embarrassing everyone if i'm way off the mark with what would be considered fun.

OP posts:
ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 16:52

i say play with it...I built little kits and sort colours sometimes...I don't set up scenes and have them talk to each other... aware I may sound like a fruit loop

BigBaboonBum · 31/01/2018 16:53

I’d love it! Although I can imagine it would be very pricy for the idea

agentdaisy · 31/01/2018 17:10

I'd love it. It would cost a fortune though.

The minifigure favours sound brilliant, way better than sugared almonds that no one likes. Lego table numbers could look really good, plus you'd get to build them Grin.

Personally I'd have star wars button holes, dh to be could have Han Solo and you could have Princess Leia.

It's your wedding so do what you want to do because you'll never please everyone. As long as you're not asking guests to dress as lego figures then I doubt they'll say anything even if they don't love lego.

agentdaisy · 31/01/2018 17:12

I build lego to destress too op, I love it and have loads of sets that I want but can't afford, top of the list is the huge £600 death star.

NotAgainYoda · 31/01/2018 17:14

If you invite people who know you an love you then they'll take it in good spirit

Which begs the question of why anyone would invite anyone to their wedding who didn't know and love them..

The weddings that have pissed me off have only been ones that didn't feed me enough or left me waiting around while they took millions of pictures

Your idea sounds fun

PancakeInMaBelly · 31/01/2018 17:22

Honestly, I don't are WTF you do for favours/centre pieces so long as you feed me promptly, don't make me stand around in the cold for hours, and don't expect me to traipse to the middle of nowhere for your "dream location" where the only accommodation options are 5*£££s or fucking camping....

Other than that I don't care (so long as it's not cruel: live animals like goldfish favours etc)

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 17:25

I will pick a warm venue with big dinners and there are no formal photos so at least one part will be on it!! 😁

My family will probably just roll their eyes indulgently, his family I really don’t know

"I will pick a warm venue with big dinners and there are no formal photos so at least one part will be on it!! "Although
Sounds perfect to me then!!

noo1985 · 31/01/2018 17:32

I’m my opinion it is completely up to you what theme you have it’s your wedding not other peoples!! We had a Lego theme and everyone loved it, I made my own invites and wedding stationary and someone said it was the most unique invite they had ever received! Kids favour bags were made to look like Lego, bowl of Lego in centre of table, cake and topper, table plan etc all themed. My whole family are Lego fans and it just made sense to have it. I made Lego roses and a post box too as well as having Princess Leia minifigure on my garter and Lego brick tie pin and cuff links hat I made myself too! I’m of course biased but it’s a great idea!!

I would totally love a Lego themed wedding! So much better than the usual naff ideas people have. I recon go for it!

user1499113169 · 31/01/2018 17:51

For our wedding DH made a Lego mosaic of the two of us, our cake toppers and Lego brick cufflinks. We have still got all of it and the mosaic is on the living room wall

DragonsAndCakes · 31/01/2018 17:55

If you have a LOT of minifigures you could have some fun with the seating plan. There’s an example here.

Your wedding stuff looks lovely!

I would also love to see the mosaic! How did he do that?
