Lego themed wedding?

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 12:14

What would your thoughts be if you were invited to a lego themed wedding. Build your own figures favours, build your own centerpiece, little sets to built whilst waiting on speeches?

Would you find it too childish and silly, or do you think you'd enjoy it as something diffferent?

I love it, can I come?!Wink whatever u do there’ll be people who won’t like it, it’s YOUR wedding, do what u want

JustHappy3 · 31/01/2018 12:30

I'd love it!! It's different isn't it? Kids will throw it tho. I'd be more tempted to do the favours - and the cake and have a pile for kids and big kids to play with if there's a photo canape lull.

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 12:33

so maybe a build your own favour, and a bowl of bricks for those who want to play...cake topper...some little ring bearers...and call it quits after that? Forgo a wedding bouquet made of minifigs and buttonholes with spidermen Grin less is more?

OMG can I come!!

I would LOVE that idea. Lego is brilliant and I'm seriously considering buying the Disney castle for myself at the moment....buy it for a great centrepiece at your wedding!

Wakeuptortoise · 31/01/2018 12:36

Love it. Just do it. As long as future dh loves it too who cares about naysayers. There's always at least one at a wedding, and for the life of me I don't know why they accept the invite.

ijustwannadance · 31/01/2018 12:37

Can I come too? Will bring lego.

Love the idea of minifig place settings to look like the guests.

FlashTheSloth · 31/01/2018 12:38

I love the minifigures as place settings idea, made to look (vaguely) like the guest.

AJPTaylor · 31/01/2018 12:39

Have a lego table at the reception. Those that get it will love it.
Those that dont will assume its for kids

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 12:39

I had a friend who got the Lego Disney castle...it is immense...I just finished building the creator brick bank, but would love to build one of the huge ones. I find it really relaxing to click my bricks.

OH doesn't lego, but he just sort of goes with the flow and is indulgent of my little hobby so he thinks it's a great idea, but I don't want him to be mortified Grin

I've worked a few lego weddings!
The cutest one had all of the groomsmen with their own personalised little lego characters sat in their top pockets, and the cake wasn't entirely lego themed but had a cute few lego mini figures doing their own lego wedding on top of the cake!

ShastaTrinity · 31/01/2018 12:40

I would find it a bit over-the-top, I don't really get the "themed weddings" to be honest. Isn't a "wedding" enough of a theme?

That said, If it makes you happy, go for it. It's not offensive.
You can easily put a cute lego logo somewhere on the invit, just be careful not to go too much like a kids party. Lego cake, legos for decoration. You can easily do it in a subtle way. There are lots of lego wedding cakes on pinterest.

Lego favours is a nice idea, adults don't really need a push to start playing with them.

FlashTheSloth · 31/01/2018 12:40

This is an amazing cake!

Lego themed wedding?

I would LOVE it but I am a massive Lego fan and spend a fortune on it. I would definitely have a Lego themed wedding, it sounds so cool!

gillybeanz · 31/01/2018 12:42

you can buy wedding themed lego at a shop in Liverpool.
Some friends had bride and groom on their wedding cake and lots of different pieces.
I have no idea where the shop is though.

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 12:42

I think probably themed was the wrong word, my dress is perfectly normal ( I think) and I had no plans for lego shoes, so really I suppose it's more a question about favours, decor than an all out theme. My dad was a baker so I see no possibility in him approving that cake...but the topper is cool!

gilly we got a little cake topper from the Lego store in London when we were over pretending to be working last week :D

A couple of friends did this as an anniversary thing recently.

It went down very well with most guests. I didn't like it, though - but I really dislike games, toys, Lego etc. and feel very self-conscious doing such things as an adult. I was in the definite minority for the evening, though (and it was still lovely to see my friends so happy).

ChangingsOfTheGuard · 31/01/2018 12:44

notcornflakes It is certainly not the cheapest of hobbies :D

I love this idea! I want to get married again so I can steal it!

VladmirsPoutine · 31/01/2018 12:44

@Allthebestnamesareused has it. You can't please everyone. As long as you have a great time and guests are fed and watered I couldn't care less what the theme is.
