Aibu to never watch it again? How can that many people be so stupid?

They can all see the boy Jack reacted to the police man because of his learning difficulties but they send cops with guns???
You can see the lead detective has a chip on his shoulder, he is rude, brusque and lacking in empathy, jumps to conclusions and again noone else does anything.

Tilly the carer can see the girl has been raped and does nothing??
I have watched silent witness since it began, aibu or maybe im oversensitive raising a dd with asd but wtf??

Tilly was responsible fir the taser so said nothing about the rape. I agree it was badly written and poorly executed.

maddiemookins16mum · 31/01/2018 14:54

It's become a different programme to what it used to be, if that makes sense.
Someone over on Telly Addicts calls it Violent Shitness, very apt I'd say.

MaggieMay23 · 31/01/2018 14:58

From my experience of my mum being in a nursing home, a carer in a home would never have access to the medication cabinet - it's only ever nursing staff and it's never left open. The care quality commission would be investigating at the first sign of suspicion around those deaths

ConstantCraving · 31/01/2018 15:05

Well given the police in Bristol (I think - its on bbc news website ) tazered an autistic man with no provocation maybe it's not so unrealistic

RagingWoman · 31/01/2018 15:11

CQC would have a field day in that home!
Meds accessed by anyone
Med-taking unsupervised
Residents wandering off at will
Doors lock inside and cant be opened
Teddy cam

And thats without the stun gun, the rapist carer and the physical violence 😳😳

ImTheMary · 31/01/2018 15:30

They should have stopped making Silent Witness in this format ages ago - I can't remember the last one that was any good

AllButterShortbread · 31/01/2018 15:44

I only watch it so I can have impure thoughts about Jack Blush

PookieSnackenberger · 31/01/2018 15:48

Awful. Truly awful. I stopped watching a couple of weeks ago but DH has persevered.

It's just grim. Stilted, wooden acting. Ridiculous characters and unbelievable plot lines. It's like a lesson in how to ruin something great. Jumped the shark.

I agree @hesterton. My mum also has dementia and the staff always talk to her in a kind, caring and respectful way. The CQC would be down on the home like a ton of bricks if it was any other way.
I suppose they used a bit of creative licence to get a story - or maybe they didn't research it enough?

Thebluedog · 31/01/2018 16:31

I’ve nwver watched it before but watched the first part, won’t bother with part 2 I think

billysboy · 31/01/2018 16:32

when are they going to turn a bloody light on in the Lyell centre it is all done on an old 60watt bulb , Holby is as bad
having spent a lot of time in hospitals etc recently all of which are really well lit not in near darkness
Silent Witness has turned from far fetched to OTT in a couple of series Iused to enjoy it but are we being asked to believe that they are taking on the police work as well now !
Best bit of Telly Nikki has done was on Ant and Dec

Enidblyton1 · 31/01/2018 16:34

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was appaling. I'm a huge fan of silent witness, but there were so many elements of this that were wrong. Really poor script writing.
Glad to see more disabled actors on TV, but what a shame they had to be part of such dross.

CruCru · 31/01/2018 16:52

I really like the Clarissa character. But this had so many huge plot holes. If she was only in for a few days' respite care, I can't believe the careworker dude would act like that with her. She'd tell people as soon as she got out.

HelenaDove · 31/01/2018 16:58

Jo Church is Liz Carrs wife She asks those saying that the portrayal of the police was unrealistic to please read this. She linked this article in a tweet.

Exiguous · 31/01/2018 17:04

I tried to watch the new series but gave up halfway through an episode about two weeks ago - it's so shit. I'm done.

Gemini69 · 31/01/2018 22:18

It was a load of bollocks ... which was badly written and badly executed... the writers need a good boot up the arse .. this is a fantastic tv show slipping down the drain by poor storylines ... the writers are crap... Hmm

Devilishpyjamas · 31/01/2018 22:24

Carers do have access to meds. My son’s meds were given by carers.

My son was punched twice by carers in the first year in residential.

Unfortunately not as far fetched as I would like.

Devilishpyjamas · 31/01/2018 22:25

Well twice that I know of.

feska5 · 31/01/2018 22:31

Last weeks episodes were bad enough but this weeks were truly awful. Why are they suddenly focusing on the characters personal lives? The acting is shocking and the scripts are pathetic with so many flaws. I certainly won’t watch again.

MaggieMay23 · 31/01/2018 22:32

@Devilishpyjamas I'm very sorry to hear that did you report it?
I've only ever observed the nurse giving out medication at my mum's nursing home in all the time she's been there and locking the meds trolley whenever they walk away to give a resident their drugs

Devilishpyjamas · 31/01/2018 22:35

Homes for people with learning disabilities do not usually employ nurses. In that case meds are usually administered by two carers but people with capacity can self administer if they choose.

The incidents were reported by staff (my son is non-verbal - he can’t tell me). The police investigated and decided not to press charges in either case.

I suspect if he gets punched again nothing will happen again.

And if you think abuse doesn’t happen post-Winterbourne you haven’t read About Thomas Rawnsley www.channel4.com/news/unanswered-questions-over-death-of-disabled-young-man
