Someone keep me sane? *potential trigger warning* baby in hospital

In hospital with DS2 (8weeks old) due to high temp yesterday. It went up to 39C at one point!

We've been here yesterday, barely survived the first night and I'm stuck for at least 2 more nights until all the results are back and they know what to do.

They're 99% sure it's not meningitis but want to wait until the cultures develop fully and are waiting for a few more tests to come back.
In the meantime DS is being poked and prodded and regularly put on an antibiotic drip, his feeds are being interrupted if he needs another dose or another check up, his cannula had started leaking into his hand so they had to take it out and we are currently waiting for another one being put in Sad

He's irritable and won't be put down at all so I get precisely 0 rest.

I just want to take him home he's not been himself at all he's gone from a smiley gurgling baby to a sad, sleepy, crying one and my hearts breaking.

DP has the most important meeting of the year (his job depends on it) on the other side of the country so as of tonight I'm completely alone for the next 2 nights.

Thinking of you op. My ds has just turned 1. Its a happy time but also bringing back painful memories of his 4 weeks spent in hospital when he was 6 days old. I know its awful being away from home and family. Hope he's on the mend soon Flowers

How is he doing op? We were in the same situation with our little boy at 8 weeks, he had a temp of 39.5 and heart related was 199, the pit him straight on iv antibiotics and told us they were treating him for bacterial meningitis, he had a lumbar puncture and they told us that the fluid they took was cloudy so there were white blood cells in it, indicating meningitis, they have him a second antibiotic, he had so many blood samples taken, a brain scan, 5 days in the tests came back from Dublin (he got sick on a Saturday night so no labs open) and it was viral meningitis caused by an enterovirus. We were discharged that day. I'll never ever forget the absolute terror of having such a small, vulnerable baby so sick, how pale he was and how petrified we were. But he got better really quickly. He's 22 months old now. Sorry for the essay! I just wanted to let you know we've been exactly where you are with very similar symptoms, same age baby and it turned out fine. I really hope your little boy is fully recovered and home soonThanks

Heart rate! And put not pit. I hate that you can't edit posts!

Thankyou for all the support.
The results have literally just come back and they're all negative so we have the all clear to go. Unfortunately it's too late to get collected now so we are waiting until the morning to have DSs cannula out and head home.
The good news is we get a bit of a quieter night as he doesn't need any more antibiotics. The bad news is I'm stuck on the recliner with him glued to me for another night 😁
