To not want to watch woman removing her daughter's nits in Waitrose cafe

After a stressful morning thought I'd treat myself to a cappuccino in Waitrose cafe. But there's a woman with her daughter on her knees having a very thorough but removal session. Methodically going through her hair, getting the nits between finger and thumb and then flicking them onto the floor. Am I unreasonable to think perhaps she could do this in the privacy of her own home?

Heh no not marching up furniture Grin if they can get on a body they find the heat line and make their way up to the head.

It has tickled me that you actually went to check to prove me wrong though. I’m not particularly bothered whether you believe me or not Wink

fourandnomore · 30/01/2018 14:54

This has made me feel quite sick but itsallabitstrange your last line made me laugh out loud Smile

Mycatisahacker · 30/01/2018 14:56

I know where would be a better place to flick pubic lice really? Not the best anywhere Grin

Pollaidh · 30/01/2018 14:58

Foregiveness hope that wasn't me in the aeroplane queue. About 3 years ago I realised as we were standing in the plane queue, that DD had a massive infestation (she'd been in hats/helmets for 2 weeks so I hadn't noticed). I didn't de-nit her in the queue though, just checked that my eyes weren't deceiving me, made her tie her hair up and told her to keep away from everyone until we got home.

BlueMirror · 30/01/2018 15:00

Sorry to untickle you but I didn't check on your account. There was a thread on here the other day where someone advised boil washing bedding etc and I had a look then. Since we have had the dreaded letters from our school last week.
No sign of any having made it home as of yet though 🙏

IndigoMoonFlower · 30/01/2018 15:06

Oh GOSH, how disgusting!! I think you should have (discretely) photographed her and reported it.

Clandestino · 30/01/2018 15:09

I'm sorry but I find this really unbelievable. You are sitting in a cafe, watching a woman removing parasites from her child's hair and say nothing? I'd be furious if I caught lice because I sat somewhere where there was fresh lice looking for a host and someone knew and didn't say a word. She's gross but you're gross too, honestly.

BrendasUmbrella · 30/01/2018 15:24

I wouldn't have said anything (I'm a wuss) but I would have passive-aggressively complained on twitter and tagged them just before leaving.

Good luck man, they’re a right pain in the arse!

Thinkingofausername1 · 30/01/2018 16:03

Omg. Confused

Crumbs1 · 30/01/2018 16:46

In truth, I’d have got the giggles if I was with my husband. He would have freaked completely. Always did. It’s not nice, it’s I’ll mann but it’s not going to do any harm...... and sitting going through long hair searching for tenacious nits (not lice) is oddly therapeutic and bonding.

Spangles1963 · 30/01/2018 16:57

Urgh. I thought I'd seen it all when a woman was having her eyebrows threaded in Costa's. But I think nit removal takes the prize.

Soubriquet · 30/01/2018 17:01

What program is this @gamerchick

Sounds interesting

gamerchick · 30/01/2018 17:09

It was but it was ages go so no idea. They wanted to test whether lice, were intelligent or how they ticked. They put an even amount of lice on one dudes jumper and waited a few hours until they found the hair. Then they got another couple of dudes to go head to head to see what they would do. The lice divied themself up evenly so each person had an identical number of lice. So testing a theory about overcrowding/breeding potential or some crap on a potential host.

Who knew lice thought about where they hook up Grin

laudanum · 16/02/2018 02:43

Did it look like this?

scampifry · 16/02/2018 12:06

Read this before I went to sleep. I had a horrible dream about my daughters hair being full of pulsating alien eggs. Thanks.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/02/2018 12:21

What and not one staff member went over to her and told her to stop. I'd be reporting them to environmental health. Infact I think I would myself if I knew the branch.
That's beyond disgusting. Those things could be going in people's food. The dirty bitch.Envy. Definitely not envy.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 16/02/2018 12:29

I KNEW I shouldn’t have clicked laudanam Envy< not envy. Serves me right!

Celticrose · 16/02/2018 15:20

Think that is bad. A friend witnessed someone changing their child's dirty nappy in a cafe. The owner did not see it but they did let her know.
