To not want to watch woman removing her daughter's nits in Waitrose cafe

After a stressful morning thought I'd treat myself to a cappuccino in Waitrose cafe. But there's a woman with her daughter on her knees having a very thorough but removal session. Methodically going through her hair, getting the nits between finger and thumb and then flicking them onto the floor. Am I unreasonable to think perhaps she could do this in the privacy of her own home?

Tell a member of staff!! I would also be concerned that the little blighters can climb up someone's chair leg and onto their head!! I had a whole year of repeat infections and I'd be fuming if someone in Waitrose infected me or my kids like this!

People are inexplicable.

Littlechocola · 30/01/2018 09:50

How awful for the child too Sad

ArcheryAnnie · 30/01/2018 09:51

That is gross. Anything to do with hair should not be done in a cafe! And flicking them on the floor, too - ugh.

Idontdowindows · 30/01/2018 09:53

I was once at a bbq with friends when one of their friends did the same. Sat there by the table with all the food on it and deloused her daughter.

I couldn't eat anymore and made my excuses.

December11 · 30/01/2018 09:53

Oh that's grim!

CaMePlaitPas · 30/01/2018 09:55

That is repulsive, some people have no shame. I do find it quite funny though - the brazen antics of some people fascinate me!

Sparklingbrook · 30/01/2018 09:56

That is really grim, I would have mentioned it to staff. But why the need to say it was Waitrose cafe? 'I was in a cafe' would have been suffice. Grin

grannytomine · 30/01/2018 09:56

That is gross.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 30/01/2018 09:58

Hmm. Surely de-fleaing should be done sitting on a hot rock in late afternoon sun with the rest of the pride snoozing around you.

spiderlight · 30/01/2018 10:03

Grim grim grim!!

feska5 · 30/01/2018 10:06

😱 How disgusting can you get !

Hissy · 30/01/2018 10:09

Why would you NOT say something?? Others have to share that cafe and she has infested it the dirty creature!

mumpoints · 30/01/2018 10:11

OMG What did the Waitrose people say?

Oddish · 30/01/2018 10:12

Ugh now I have the phantom head itches 🐜🐜🐜

Urgh are you sure it was nits she was pulling out and not just dandruff or something (not that that's really any better!)
When my kids had them only a nit comb would get them out as they sort of glue themselves onto the hair

Namechangetempissue · 30/01/2018 10:19

WTF? That is absolutely disgusting. Honestly, what was she thinking?! Like the fucking women who let her toddler run up and down the row of chairs in the GP waiting room yesterday in filthy boots eating crisps. She looked on indulgently while everyone else was HmmAngry.

SlothMama · 30/01/2018 10:20

That's beyond disgusting, to pick nits and then throw it on the floor? EWWWW

sinceyouask · 30/01/2018 10:22

This is one of the rare situations in which i would complain to the staff, who I can't imagine would be any more impressed than you are about someone doing this in their cafe. That is gross.

youngnomore · 30/01/2018 10:22

Sorry. But wtf has Asda got to do with it.Confused it’s nasty wherever it happens.

Rosie70 · 30/01/2018 10:25

God the disbelievers are tedious. It did happen, it was gross and I couldn't face making a fuss. There were other people there as well who must have noticed. Pretty sure it was nits as she was getting them between her thumb and finger nails.

Bleurgh!

(Mind you, I had a moment the other week - DS came back from the toilet in a cafe saying he'd banged his head on the corner of the dryer, so I immediately started to ferret around in his hair to see if he'd broken the skin... then stopped thinking "oh fuck this must look like I'm checking him for nits to anyone sitting around..." Blush )

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 30/01/2018 10:41

What's tedious is that you just SAT there! Shock
