Yes i live in Scarborough, the most friendly people are people who dont originate from Scarborough in my experience to be honest
When i moved here 40 years ago, i was told outsiders especially from West Yorkshire were not liked,i was shocked,
I moved here with my parents and was looking to rent somewhere
I was told,if you are divorced and have children you have no chance,
What a welcome, having moved from a very friendly place where people would go out of their way to help you,
Went into a pub with my sister and no one spoke to us, again so different from where i had lived before,
However, the place is lovely, but has gone downhill in recent years regarding night clubs etc, and pubs being closed down, often to do with drugs,
There is though depending on what you like, a lovlely theatre in the round, an open air theatre, with some good acts in the summer ,museums, nice coffee shops, not sure about jazz places
There are sports and gym facilities, and a new swimming pool, a lovely beach and woodlands
It all depends how you like to live your life,
I still dont have close friends who are actually born and bred here
There are several schools of course and colleges and a University
I am sorry for the not so nice parts i have mentioned, but maybe things have changed
My 2 youngest children were born here and thankfully not got into the drugs scene, [adults now of course] but it is a big problem here, but probably so is every other town or city these days
There is also a lot of unemployment, but again depends on what work you might want
There are good areas and bad like anywhere
The property prices are quite high compared to some places, best to look on estate agents sites to give you an idea of prices
After saying all that i do love the place itself
