Seriously do some people have no sense of embarrassment? I would never post on a public group that I have some leftover incontinence pads following the birth of my child. I'd give them to a foodbank, my local hospital, my health visitor, care home anything but the p cal FB group, I'll keep you posted as to whether anyone is "interested".

OP posts:
NoNoCharlieRascal · 27/01/2018 19:09

Unless they are used I can't see the issue?

Shylo · 27/01/2018 19:09

Why should she be embarrassed? ....... and if you think stress incontinece is something to be embarrassed about, why keep us posted on people who may be interested so we can all laugh and point at them so more

GYMBALL · 27/01/2018 19:10

I think it's a nice thing to do . I've seen maternity and breast pads being offered on my local fb page ...

ceepeeree · 27/01/2018 19:11

someone just trying to do something nice. Don't see the big deal here. You come across really childish Confused

DearMrDilkington · 27/01/2018 19:11

I don't see the issue.

TheQueenOfWands · 27/01/2018 19:12

Don't see the issue.

Incontinence is nothing to be embarrassed/ashamed about.

Thinking it is has one of the older ladies crying each time she has an 'accident' no matter how many times I say it's common.

Can't we just talk normally about these things?

FlibbertyGiblets · 27/01/2018 19:12

Nope not seeing the issue either. Soz.

toldmywrath · 27/01/2018 19:12

Nothing wrong with offering these. In fact I've done the same following a death in the family. A local carer was very pleased to have them, they are very expensive.

TheHungryDonkey · 27/01/2018 19:12

Could you provide us with a list of medical conditions which are too embarrassing to talk about and a list of ones that are socially acceptable?

PaperdollCartoon · 27/01/2018 19:13

I don’t see a problem, they’ve not been used and someone else could use them? I don’t get all this embarrassment about bodily functions we all (or half of us in this case) experience.

RitaConnors · 27/01/2018 19:14

I don’t see why you think it’s embarrassing that a woman’s body might not be in tip top condition after the birth of a baby.

It’s no more ‘embarrassing’ than dying your hair because it’s going grey or buying a size 12 because you are overweight.

Intercom · 27/01/2018 19:15
Biscuit
Passmethecakeplease · 27/01/2018 19:15

But they're not just used for incontinence are they. They can be used for normal blood loss after a birth.

Even if they were used for incontinence it's still a nice thing to offer up so YABU.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 27/01/2018 19:16

I don't see a problem. Sounds like a gracious thing to do, in fact.

FlibbertyGiblets · 27/01/2018 19:17

However I would maybe suggest we don't share stories around the topic. We do have um er 'niche interest' visitors, after all.

Parsleyisntfood · 27/01/2018 19:17

I don’t think foodbanks/hospices etc take them if the packet is open.
I might be making this up but is there not a stat about how little incontinence is diagnosed because people are embarrassed.
Maybe she’ll save someone from being too embarrassed to purchase them in Boots.

leighdinglady · 27/01/2018 19:19

I'd say it's brave considering the amount of judgemental people out there. It helps to normalise a very common problem that is nothing to be ashamed of

Namechangetempissue · 27/01/2018 19:20

Well, as long as they are not used Tena, I can't see an issue at all. If someone does feel embarrassed to ask for them on the site, they can message the person offering them. I think its a nice thing to do and could save someone a few quid.

DullAndOld · 27/01/2018 19:20

I think it's good to talk about incontinence, so many of us suffer from it, but wont talk about it.

Passmethecakeplease · 27/01/2018 19:21

We do have um er 'niche interest' visitors, after all

Ewwww

Glumglowworm · 27/01/2018 19:22

The more people refuse to be embarrassed the more people will stop thinking it’s something to be embarrassed about

lightcola · 27/01/2018 19:25

buying a size 12 because you are overweight

You think size 12 is overweight? Shock

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 27/01/2018 19:25

Parsley you’re right, they don’t take them opened, certainly out one doesn’t.

They are bloody expensive and good on the person offering them for trying to help out.

op do you feel good about this? Do you feel proud of yourself for making others think it’s something to be ashamed about? People like you are the reason people are so embarrassed about it and no one talks about it. I hope you feel like the monumental prat you are.

DeStijl · 27/01/2018 19:26

Wow you seem really bitchy.

Ducksarsehead · 27/01/2018 19:27

My son uses tena pads aged 4 due to a medical problem. Before we finally got prescription pads we were spending £8 a day on pads!
If id seen them on my local free cycle i would have snapped them up.
I did buy 5 large boxes in a charity shop and was thrilled. Aparently they had been donated by the daughter of a man who had recently died.
Incontinence should not be a shameful secret, actually any medical condition should be able to be discussed openly without sniggering and shame
