To be shocked at the price of the cinema?

In fairness it was IMAX but £50 for 1 adult (DP) & 2 DCs - I try to avoid the cinema now due to the prohibitive costs (& annoying nacho eating, drink slurping fellow cinema goers)

We make the most of our meerkat movies and go on a weekday for 1/2 price 😊

We are fortunate enough to have a reasonably priced cinema within striking distance...but if you enjoy the cinema and are likely to go even just a few times in a year, it’s worth buying a cheap insurance policy through compare the market so you get meerkat movies 2 for 1 for a year. I got it last year just for an £11 holiday insurance policy. You can only use Tuesday/Wednesday but worth it if you’re happy to go on those days.

lynmilne65 no need for the funny faces! Obviously not everyone loves near Peckham but given the large number of IMAX cinemas in London (and particularly the one near Waterloo which is the one I usually call the IMAX) I thought there was a good chance OP was in London.

lives but loves works too!

YANBU,,i too have noticed this. Yet cinemas seem to be on the rise. Here is stockport they have built a nice new and incredibly ugly building that is a cinema. I have a big 54 inch tv in my tv room so im content to view that rather than go out to cinema.

We are very lucky to support our independent cinema. £2.50 a seat.

They do ask that people buy popcorn or a drink to help subside the cheap tickets. Family sized Popcorn and drinks combo are around £8 in total so still cheap.

We have a big name cinema close by too. It’s usually empty. They have started price matching on certain days to get people in.

Hmmmm I paid £12 for DS and I to go see Star Wars in 3D... Always hunt around for a voucher deal, and buy popcorn/drinks at the supermarket. 3D glasses were saved from the last film we saw.

I think the price would have been triple if I wasnt such a cheapskate wasn't so careful with my money 😂

NeverTwerkNaked · 28/01/2018 17:13

We never ever go and pay full price! DP currently gets cheap cinema vouchers through work, before that he got so many free with his credit card, and before that I had an offer with my phone contract.

We usually try and take the kids to the “movies for juniors” ones but otherwise use discounted tickets
