To think this wouldn’t happen for any other type of crime

Aibu to think this is just madness, it’s hard enough to get a case to court for sexual assault as it is. And now they’ll all be reviewed

If a few cases of burglary or murder collapsed then would they would review all cases ever for those crimes. I think not

My faith in the justice system in as low as it can be and I don't disagree that sexual assault is being singled out here.

But... I appealed to the CPS about my case after the original decision. I was due a reply on Monday but had an email saying the decision had been delayed for two weeks (no reason given). My only hope here is if all cases are being reviewed, maybe some that were being wrongly turned down are being looked at properly.

Looking for a silver lining on the shit show....

What is wrong with reviewing cases? I don't see the issue.

The reason it's being spoken about is because of the 4 recent cases which were mishandled by the police and / or CPS. If cases have been mishandled then we should look at why. If it's likely or possible that there have been miscarriages of justice then they must be reviewed. Your suggestion that we should ignore potentially innocent men being found guilty of rape is disgusting.

"If a few cases of burglary or murder collapsed then would they would review all cases ever for those crimes. I think not."

You can't really bases this on "think" though, can you. Facts are better. There was a debate last week with Senior MPs calling to review outdated murder laws saying that dozens and dozens of cases need to be reviewed - they've been used for unfair convictions.

I agreee that potentially unsafe cases need reviewing
I worry that, if any other type of case had 4 collapses in a short space of time, would every one be reviewed.
Obviously we all need to work on hard facts. So I would be delighted if someone could come up with facts that proved this happen with every type of crime

You can't tell which cases are unsafe until they've been reviewed! 4 collapsed cases in 2 months means that questions are going to be asked.

As a woman I'm happy about any reviews as the public need to believe that false prosecutions are a tiny minority and that for the CPS to prosecute the evidence is sound.

It's up to you to prove your assertion that this is unfair or sexist or whatever else. I would be delighted if you could come up with facts to show that this is wrong. It actually seems that you agree so I'm now confused as to what your AIBU is.
