Or is it an over ripe pear?
I do love Lidl and their randomness. Also not sure about the wooden coaster that it is nestling upon.
AIBU about the miss-selling of fruit/vegetables used as lamps?

If it's good enough for the cats I'm in.

HemanOrSheRa · 25/01/2018 22:13

I've got one, not from Lidl, but it is definitely made of salt. I know because I licked it. Grin Proper belly laughing at this Nora. I was scrolling down the posts thinking 'I wonder if they do taste of salt?' Now we know!

GetShitDone · 26/01/2018 09:54

Mrspitt that's hilarious!

(top tip, don't put items made of salt in areas with lots of humidity/damp...)

BearSoFair · 26/01/2018 10:00

Grin at licking it...we have a new Lidl just opened nearby, me and DH were in there yesterday and I said I wondered if they'd taste salty. DH said we couldn't have one because he didn't trust me not to lick it to find out Grin

Basseting · 26/01/2018 10:36

Ooooh, waffle irons?
(blast, shoulda held back on salt lamp excesses so could scoff waffles by lamplight. will have to mournfully lick lamps instead)

Elledouble · 26/01/2018 15:37

I really want one now. But I’m scared that if I know any of you in real life then you’ll know I’m a MNer Grin

BulletFox · 26/01/2018 15:45

I quite like them as a nightlight Blush

I'd draw the line at licking however

Snooks1971 · 26/01/2018 19:32

I was gong to go to Lidl tonight but couldn't be arsed after work. I just hope this thread hasn't caused an American style Nutella stampede on Salt Lamps and waffle makers doubtful

FlaviaAlbia · 26/01/2018 19:36

Ooh, what kind of waffle maker is it? The ones that make the thick ones or the flat ones?

Snooks1971 · 26/01/2018 19:37

Elledouble only if you are spotted actually licking them in Lidl Grin

OP posts:
Snooks1971 · 26/01/2018 19:38

Flavia I'm not sure but the waffles are heart shaped Hmm and it's £9.99!

FlaviaAlbia · 26/01/2018 19:44

That's enough information to get me there Grin thanks Wink

CigarsofthePharoahs · 26/01/2018 19:49

But how does putting a lightbulb in it make it somehow healthy?
If it is really putting salt into the air, wont that just mean anything iron will go rusty?
Could I get the same benefit sniffing table salt?
Or does it have to be a suspiciously shaped lamp?

Snooks1971 · 26/01/2018 19:51

Here you go Flavia Smile

I went down a salt mine last month, to see where the winter road salt is mined.
We picked up lumps of salt and illuminated them with our miners lamps and the amber glow was beautiful.
I might get myself of to Lidl to recreate the experience Glitterball

Snooks1971 · 26/01/2018 19:59

Cigars God knows, but you've made me think.
Salt in the air: would it make you thirsty?
I imagine that snorting/sniffing table salt would make your nostrils smart though Shock

No sure if anyone has answered but yes it is exactly the same as the cow salt licks, Himalayan pink rock salt. We have an agricultural tennant and a salt lamp, he found it very amusing when I told him how much it cost in lamp form :)! "Townies" and an eye roll.

ObscuredbyFog · 26/01/2018 20:26

I bought some table salt to sprinkle on our steps on freezing nights, it's got this in it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_ferrocyanide. Nothing would possess me to eat it.

If you buy pink Himalayan salt as a condiment, it's quite expensive but you can buy food grade in larger quantities from places like Westlabs.

Basseting · 26/01/2018 20:27

Snooks
well, my friend got the very last of one design and the last but one of another design of salt lamp in Lidl in Edinburgh....

Snooks1971 · 26/01/2018 21:36

I'm going to gently handle the cow lick Salt
Lamp tomorrow morning in Lidl and then surreptitiously lick my finger as I move on to the Waffle Maker

Missed your post with the picture Snooks1971 thanks for looking that out! Smile

LolitaLempicka · 28/01/2018 08:32

Salt lamps are the adult equivalent of amber beads.
Big big bunch of bollocks.

vampirethriller · 28/01/2018 09:27

I'm new here and this is the first thing I've written... I licked my salt lamp too. 😂

FlaviaAlbia · 28/01/2018 11:42

You know, you got off lightly with your initiation really vampirethriller Grin Now you just need to learn that you will regret Googling obscure sexual terms you don't recognise on threads and you're done unless you have a strong stomach and brain bleach Wink
