Lidl are selling a butternut squash masquerading as a lamp

Or is it an over ripe pear?
I do love Lidl and their randomness. Also not sure about the wooden coaster that it is nestling upon.
AIBU about the miss-selling of fruit/vegetables used as lamps?

Looks like a pear to me.

Fekko · 25/01/2018 20:28

It’s a Father Jack earwax candle.

GetShitDone · 25/01/2018 20:28

What's random about a salt lamp?

Coconutspongexo · 25/01/2018 20:30

Haha it’s fine! Tbh I just wanted one to see if it does have a calming effect and ended up getting more as presents .. typical.

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 20:31

That's a good price compared to other ones I've seen.

I’d love one of those! Haven’t seen them in the French Lidl yet.

ShatnersBassoon · 25/01/2018 20:35

Don't bin them, Dipping - break them down for winter path clearance purposes.

I'm assuming they are made from actual salt. I've never seen such a thing.

cheesypastatonight · 25/01/2018 20:36

Should they taste of salt if they are the real thing?

speakout · 25/01/2018 20:37

Good for the lungs apparently- the salt air when the lamp warms up.

Some poeple love them.

FindoGask · 25/01/2018 20:38

Some people believe they have mysterious health-giving properties.

NoraButty · 25/01/2018 20:41

I've got one, not from Lidl, but it is definitely made of salt. I know because I licked it.

Not sure about the health stuff but it gives off a nice light, warming.

speakout · 25/01/2018 20:42

I don't think it's mysterious.

We have "salt rooms" at a clinic nearby. It was noticed that miners working in salt mines had very few bronchial problems. It's not a far fetched idea.
Although I haven't tried it or used a salt lamp.
If people feel it helps, then why not.
My neighbour has one in his conservatory, it gives of a lovely soft glow at night.

KatharinaRosalie · 25/01/2018 20:42

ooh that's cheap. They make lovely night lights.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 25/01/2018 20:44

I've never heard of them

You have got to love the aisle of weirdness though

cushioncovers · 25/01/2018 20:47

I've got one from amazon they do taste of salt😄 and they are really heavy.

kissbeforelippy · 25/01/2018 20:52

I know because I licked it. That me laugh, thank you!

Snooks1971 · 25/01/2018 20:53

First and foremost I need to state my case: I have nothing against salt lamps (I've never heard of them but now I'm interested). Are all salt lamps vegetable shaped?

I know I could google but I prefer to ask

OP posts:
Basseting · 25/01/2018 20:57

Oh, oh, oh....
I live nowhere near a Lidl but a friend does.
I had heard of these and asked him to get me one, sight unseen.
He phoned to say: '2 kinds, which do you want?' and I said:
'oooh, can you get both, receipt and return the one I don't like pls?'
Kindly, he agreed. I bet I don't return either. Grin

cushioncovers · 25/01/2018 20:58

No they come in all sorts of rock type shapes

CheesyWeez · 25/01/2018 20:59

I'm following hoping for details as my google is broken.
