Ggrrrrrr

MadMags · 25/01/2018 21:03

Nobody says it anymore. I wouldn’t worry about it!

ThePants999 · 25/01/2018 21:06

Wait, people don't like me saying this? Yikes... my bad!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2018 21:06

scoop I'd only ever say My Bad to irritate my teens, never IRL , I am far too ancient .

DS says "Chintzy" as in don't be mean/tight/scroogey

directsunlight · 25/01/2018 21:07

I say it in an exaggerated American accent on order to get a laugh out of my teenaged DC. They chuckle and roll their eyes in a "my mother is so embarrassing" sort of way.

directsunlight · 25/01/2018 21:07

Oh snap, 70s, cross post. My bad.

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 21:07

Oooo

Not hear 'chintzy' other than for old curtains etc

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 21:08

Is it followed up with 'innit'

My Bad Innit??

OP posts:
MonumentalAlabaster · 25/01/2018 21:09

topsyandtimison · 25/01/2018 21:09

'I hate 'Eyebrows are 'on fleek''... Er excuse me?

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 21:11

Topsy

What on Earth??

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 21:12

Monumental

I think it's means....my fault or something similar.

IfNot · 25/01/2018 21:13

I'm normally quite laid back about language but I'm with Worra about the "So" .It's EVERYWHERE! Just start the fucking sentence, no need for "So"! Grrrr.

SoozeyHoozey · 25/01/2018 21:13

I hate "you got this" or "we got this" etc as a term of encouragement/determination l. Bleuch 🤮

Plumes · 25/01/2018 21:17

I like 'eyebrows on fleek' because it's so absurd.

edwinbear · 25/01/2018 21:17

I had a fiery exchange of words with a mate who doesn't speak English as his first language the other day over this. I asked him to translate into English what he meant by 'his bad', as it didn't make sense and wasn't a proper English sentence.

He told me it was, his English teacher (also not English as a first language) told him it was.

It got very heated Grin. My boss also uses it, it makes me want to stitch his mouth up.

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 21:17

Plumes

What does it mean??

OP posts:
Plumes · 25/01/2018 21:20

It just means 'my eyebrows look great'. It became a thing when an American teen filmed a vine of herself saying this whilst admiring her eyebrows Grin

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2018 21:21

What does fleek actually mean?
Someone mentioned "wait, what?" on here a couple of weeks ago and I have never noticed it before but it's now popping up everywhere!

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2018 21:21

X post. But is fleek meant to be a word? A cross between sleek and something else?

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2018 21:22

Another one that I am guilty of is using the word like instead of said.
"and she was like wait... What?"

Sarahh2014 · 25/01/2018 21:23

I hate it when obviously is said several times in a sentence with no relevance.Think I've been watching too much Jeremy kyle

Pepperedbeef · 25/01/2018 21:23

Also “fierce”. It irritated me the most when used by a woman who went on the women’s march last year when dealing with a comment from some rat that she must be a man. She said “I’m feminine, I went on the March with a fierce eyeliner flick”. Annoying, and an inherently stupid comment overall.

honeyroar · 25/01/2018 21:32

I detest it too. It's like people are trying (and succeeding!) to sound stupid (to excuse whatever they're apologising for perhaps?).

SheRasBra · 25/01/2018 21:33

I hate 'with' used on its own e.g. "You can come with". Very American but starting to infect UK teen language.

I die a little inside every time I hear it....

YearOfYouRemember · 25/01/2018 21:33

It's just part of the dumbing down that is going on now.
