Oh , I like "My Bad"

Can't abide "Guys". As I peer at my bust and admire the fact my female body gestated and expelled 2 infants , I am catergorically NOT a 'Guy'

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:41

'Oh , I like "My Bad"'

Do you actually use it??

OP posts:
Littleraincloud · 25/01/2018 20:41

so basically, it's like literally the same as all the other popular modern sayings, using, like, loads of words, when literally like one word would make sense. If you know what I mean.

Sheeeesh · 25/01/2018 20:42

Soz is,better than 'sad times'.

'Sad fucking times' was my friend's response to my cancer diagnosis. Except she didn't say fucking.Angry Angry

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:43

Little Grin

Well....Basically yes I'm kind of thinking so. So, that's it really, I guess....anyhooo

OP posts:
TroysMammy · 25/01/2018 20:44

YANBU it makes me grrrrrr too. What's wrong with saying "Oo what a twat am I?"

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:44

Sheesh Hmm

I'd have bopped them one

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:45

Troys

exactly

Now that's perfectly acceptable

OP posts:
jarhead123 · 25/01/2018 20:45

I agree, HATE it!

Pepperedbeef · 25/01/2018 20:45

“Literally”. Because if literally never is

Pepperedbeef · 25/01/2018 20:45

^it

Cherrycokewinning · 25/01/2018 20:46

Yeah move on. You’re not in the nineties anymore

TattyCat · 25/01/2018 20:46

YANBU. But I also detest "I'm good" as a response to "how are you?".

It's WRONG! It's wrong, I tell you...

earlylifecrisis · 25/01/2018 20:47

meh, can't get excited. Language evolves.

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:47

HmmI am

OP posts:
sallyarmy1 · 25/01/2018 20:47

Hun.

I hate 'hun'.

What the fuck is a 'hun'?????

MissDuke · 25/01/2018 20:51

Argh op I hate it too so much! It sounds ridiculous.
I hate the word twat even more though so the suggestion above really doesn't work for me Grin It might be regional because thankfully no one I know uses that word.

Plumes · 25/01/2018 20:52

It's only in the last couple of years that I've heard 'my bad' used outside of American films and TV shows. Now I use plenty of American slang but this phrase does sound clunky to my ears when said by a Brit. Along with Apprentice candidates 'stepping up to the plate' and people saying 'enough already';.

Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:54

Also loathe

'Potty mouth'

Leave that where it belongs

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 25/01/2018 20:54

Especially when it's said almost like 'poddy mouth' Hmm

OP posts:
Pearlsaringer · 25/01/2018 20:58

Also hate ‘my bad’. I’m all for the evolution of language and I can cope with most other Americanisms but that one really hurts.

Armi · 25/01/2018 20:58

Hubbies, biccies and cuppas can all fuck off. Along with the truly despicable ‘picky bits’.

And I agree with you, OP.

EmGee · 25/01/2018 21:00

Took me ages to work out exactly what the hell 'my bad' meant.

I also hate the misuse of 'like'.

As in, 'so we were like down by the park and like, it was so sunny'.

RAAAAGGGGEEEE. I agree wholeheartedly with Miriam Margoyles when she tells Will.I.Am off for this on the Graham Norton show.

MumsBet · 25/01/2018 21:02

OP, its called slang!

Its clearly not for the age group represented here. DS13 says things like that and it sounds cute if faintly amusing. Its when grown ups start saying that makes me want to wallop them.

grumpy4squash · 25/01/2018 21:03

At my DDs school it's customary to say 'my bad' after farting. At least they own up....
