If you’re an NT member then Chedworth Roman Villa is well worth visit. It really blew my mind and such a beautiful setting.

Personally I’d look for somewhere to stay in Chipping Campden or Burford.

Stroud way if you like hills/woods and views...anywhere near minchinhampton or rodborough common/nympsfield etc. Cattle Country is good for kids, it's near Slimbridge and Woodchester Mansion is interesting and a bit eerie to visit if you time your visit with a time it's open.

We stayed in Blockley once which was great.

I love The Swan in Bibury but it was a coupley weekend and may not be so great with kids. The trout farm in Bibury is lovely though, I very much enjoyed feeding the trout.
