To think the National Television Awards are an absolute load of guff?

In seventeen years we don't have better TV presenters than Ant and Dec? And the other nominated alternatives Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield? Seriously?

Best TV judge is David Walliams. Jesus wept.

It's just a massive, biased towards ITV, back-slapping fest. Thank God I'm at work today so I can avoid Phil and Holly's 'hilarious' hangovers on This Morning.

Well, you could avoid them anyway, just by not turning the telly on even if you were at home ;-)

Of course it's a celebrity love in. All awards ceremonies are!

Emmerdale won best soap woo hoo!!!

Andrewofgg · 24/01/2018 08:40

Years ago Noel Edmonds referred to those bum-numbing award shows and they have not got any better. I think they are part of a Cunning Plan to stop global warming by getting us all to turn off our bloody televisions.

And the general consensus on here was that the second series of Dr Foster was very poor - yet it won best drama ahead of much better stuff.

But hey, it's ITV, what do you expect? Their output has really taken a nose dive in recent years. The only thing I watch on there now is Midsummer Murders and Vera (love a good whodunnit) and then only on catch up.

No point in having the awards whatsoever, if the same people get them every year. May as well just leave them with A&D and P&H.

It’s hardly an incentive to produce new and different entertainment. They are well past their sell by date, but I guess if people keep watching, they’ll keep rehashing the mind numbing carp.

mydogisthebest · 24/01/2018 09:03

Broadchurch won over the brilliant Line of Duty which is absolutely ridiculous. Line of Duty is one of the best things on tv whereas the first series of Broadchurch was good but the others nowhere near.

Is it viewers who vote? They obviously are idiots are voting for a laugh. How is Suranne Jones and better actress than Sheridan Smith? Suranne's method of acting is to pull faces

Commuterface · 24/01/2018 09:04

I'm just stunned that TV shows such as Peaky Blinders didn't even get a mention.

Some of the best TV shows are now being made by Netflix anyway.

The shows that beg for votes are ridiculous. This Morning makes loads of effort to won these awards, putting lengthy trailers promoted themselves, then the presenters act shocked when they win Grin

ThePinkOcelot · 24/01/2018 09:11

Dr Foster won?! It was bloody crap! I watched it every week, hoping for it to get better - it didn’t!

The awards are bollocks anyway.

Phil looks really weird on those adverts he’s on. What has he done to his face?!

StoatofDisarray · 24/01/2018 09:22

Whither Line of Duty?!
