AIBU?

To want to chop of Ewans front right leg (the harp)

My son is currently going through the 4 month sleep regression and waking every hour. Every feed and settle is a battle. At 4am this morning i successfully got DS to sleep with Ewan doing his thing with DS's preferred back right leg. I was in the process of lifting DS back into his bed when Ewan decided to go to sleep. In sheer panic I grabbed Ewan and hit the blasted harp. DS wide awake for another hour. I may as well of shook a tamborine in his ear.

FFS.

I get there is a certain degree of operator incompentency going on but as all babies have a preferred leg I do feel there needs to be a safety lock or something on the others. In the mean time I am considering scissors.

Rant over.

Both of mine have only liked the front right leg! And with a 20 month age gap, it means I’ve been listening to that bloody harp for 4 years solid.
I don’t think I can sleep without it now!

YABU. That sounds always sends me straight back to sleep....the baby too!

Also, do you agree that Ewan needs to play for longer? Or be remote control operated? The amount of times I’ve had to stealthily sneak into a bedroom to press his leg again without making eye contact...

Lol I get that some may like it but the jeopardy of hitting the unfavoured leg is all too much.

I do agree about the length of time. Atm especially as DS is struggling to sleep so much. 20mins is not enough!

Oh, I’ve always thought it was a piano!

I swear the legs on ours swap round. So often I press it thinking “this won’t be the music” and it always bloody is!

Off topic, but TheUnfavouredLeg would be a great username.

My DS prefers the back right leg too, I've accidentally hit the front right before and wanted to shoot myself. Nothing worse in the middle of the night

We switched to a myhummy at 4 months - best thing we did!

My dd also likes the back right leg OP and ewan has nearly been launched out of the window many times from me accidently setting the bloody harp off and making the baby go from just dozing to wide awake

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about but I feel like I really want to know!

I feel your pain!

My DD is now 2.5y and we have 2 Ewan's! Original Ewan's electronics gave up due to DD using his legs as dummies so the saliva got inside them 😢
She rubs his ears which are almost threadbare now, she got a new Ewan last year who she also loves for the music. She's never really been bothered which sound plays though

When mine were tiny I used to gauge how bad my night had been by the amount of cycles Ewan did.

Our Ewan died over two years ago and just the mention of the harp setting (the only one that semi worked) has made me twitch. Totally agree with measuring the shitness of a night with how many times the button was pressed.

Well the way things are going it wont be my DS that wears the fluff of his legs it will be me from pressing it every 20mins for 8 hours Hmm

I looked at a myhummy. Is it a similar heartbeat noise? They are quite pricey though arent they.

We usesd the back right leg for years but now it's died from overuse (cries) so we have to use the front left leg now.

ITS NOT THE SAME!

DD never ever fell asleep before the 4th cycle of the fucking harp Angry it still baffles me that DS nods off within 10 minutes.

I am a parent! Clearly missed the boat on whatever Ewan and his annoying leg is!

@MyOtherProfile and @CheeseGirl4 its a ewan the dream sheep. It makes white noise to help your baby sleep. There are four noises to choose from - one for each of his legs. 3 are heartbeat/rain sort of sounds, the other is a harp which has an anti sleep effect

Front right leg is our go to leg. Has been for 3.5 years now

We have a back up Ewan as well.

Now I can't sleep without that damn sheep.

YABU for not using the front left leg quite honestly! That leg got us through the first six months (then we realised DD slept much better if we had white noise all night and the kindle took over).

One of my jobs today is to give Ewan a bit of a wipe down and some new batteries ready to be on standby for baby 2!

@RainyDayBear how do you use the kindle??
