So frustrating.

I went to work today and by lunch time I was fatigued. Brain fogged. Sat in my car feeling like I couldn't carry on with the rest of the day. I just have no energy at all and I'm sure it must be my diet?!

By time my shift finished I couldn't stop yawning. I felt absolutely drained. I didn't go to gym as planned and am instead laid on the sofa eating chocolate wanting to go to bed.

My diet for today was:

Breakfast - fuel protein porridge and coffee.
Lunch - bacon and cheese toastie made with 400g (small slices) 50/50 bread. A packet of hula hoops.
Dinner: spaghetti Bol made with 5% fat beef mince, wholewheat spaghetti and dolmio with a sprinkle of cheese.

A) why am I not losing weight?
B) why do I have no energy?
C) why do I feel hungry and weak?
D) why do I look like shit?????

Don't underestimate how gentle, regular exercise can help improve mood, energy and regularity! Start small and gradually increase the amount you do.

You need more fruit and veg. I'm just starting the slog of losing again.

Have a few grapes with breakfast. Have an orange or other fruit juice for lunch.

I'm counting calories and fat for carbs and protein (including oil and alcohol) but not for fruit and veg.

I also have weekends of (fri evening until Sunday morning).

I have things like a stir fry with chicken and noodles (counted) cooked i a little oil (counted) but with:

2 musrooms
1/2 small caurgette
1/2 onion
2 spring onions
1/4 pepper
2 'sprigs' of brocolli
2 baby corn

That is basically my 5 a day in one meal.

Other breakfasts
2 portobello mushrooms, cherry tomatoes one portion of cheese (I buy the pre portioned snack stuff)

take the stems of the mushroom and chop, pt them back into the mushroom with halves of cherry tomatoes and thinly sliced cheese - bake for 15 mins. If you leave out the cheese you do not need to count.

I'm aiming for 1000 - 1500 calories a day and a max 45g fat.

I did a much stricter counting diet a few years ago and lost loads but then got ill, followed by depression and lost the will to count.

This way if I don't want to count I just have fruit and veg, coffee, water etc.

Courgette and coriander soup is easy and only has one count.

2 courgettes or one large one
bunch of corriander
10-15g cooking oil
stock made with a veg stock cube and boilig water.

slice the courgettes, put in a pan with oil and leave to sweat for 2-5 mins until they have a golden colour. Chop and add the coriander. (you can freeze coriander wrapped in newspaper, if it is frozen you can just crumble it in to the soup)

Add the stock and cook for 5-10 mins.

Blend and eat.

Obviously you can add bread or croutons or a swirl of creme fraiche just remember to count them.

I have lost 4.6 Kg in 10 days.

Forgot nuts !
Get a bag of unsalted mixed nuts to snack on, that should get you running to the loo as well !!

Too many empty carbs. Ditch the white carbs, lower the carbs in general & eat more fruit & veg. If you can't handle fruit, try smoothies. Also ditch any sugary drinks. Short term, get some good vitamin supplements, you are likely to be lacking in quite a few vitamins & minerals when you eat so little fruit & veg. That will make you feel rough, so will the sugar crashes after eating too many white carbs.

There's a lot of processed food in your diary which will be high in sugar, also a good deal of carbs. These might be contributing to fatigue and constipation.
More fresh food, vegetables and salads (not ready made ones, buy the components and make it up yourself)
Porridge is OK but make it as unrefined as possible and ditch the Coco Pops. Add prunes and apricots to the porridge for fibre.
better yet, get an organic muesli base and then add to it to your taste - itll keep you going much longer.
And what are you drinking? Water is the best laxative according to a GP friend.

I do have ferritin deficiency anaemia but can't take iron tablets due to chronic constipation OP, I get constipated whenever I've had iron tablets but I've taking this with no such trouble:

How are you getting on OP?

ShowMeTheElf · 26/01/2018 09:09

You don't mention drinks. Are you drinking 2 litres every day? remember that real coffee and alcohol are both dehydrating. And yes to pp: more fibre and veg in your diet.
