Supermarket bakery aisle

AIBU to say that Tesco's Cheese and Jalepeno bloomer is the top spot in the supermarket baker aisle, followed closely by Sainsbury's sea salt and rosemary focaccia 😍

I don't have a Morrison's or an Aldi here 🙄 I know where I'll be going on my next trip to the mainland Grin

A slice of very fresh M&S Pain de Campagne with a wedge of salted butter. Oooh, mama.

ALemonyPea · 22/01/2018 21:02

M&S cheese boule. DH and I used to share one between us when we had soup.

Asda cheese straws are lovely when fresh out the oven.

Co-op used to do fresh baked granola squares that were crunchy round the edges and gooey in the middle.

Local Tesco garage do cheese and mustard twists.

Can you tell I’m on a diet and longing for something less lettuce like.

Oldraver · 22/01/2018 21:02

Co-Op used to do a Beetroot and Apple loaf. Our Co-Op shut a couple of years ago and I haven't found any since

Maverick66 · 22/01/2018 21:05

Asda tiger loaf with real butter.

Babyroobs · 22/01/2018 21:07

Lidl pain au chocolat and their lovely roasted Red pepper and squidgy cream cheese Brioche things are lovely too !!

DwangelaForever · 22/01/2018 21:08

M&S chunky chocolate chip shortbread is great too 😍

@ALemonyPea I'm on a diet too! This thread was started by my savouring of one slice of cheese an jalapeño loaf with my home made vegetable broth 😢

Morrisons raisin and muesli bread is truly delicious.

PurpleDaisies · 22/01/2018 21:10

At Christmas, Sainsbury’s do a cranberry and Stilton loaf that’s amazing.

mrsharrison · 22/01/2018 21:11

Lidl's walnut and fig for me.

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/01/2018 21:11

Orangedragonfly · 22/01/2018 21:12

restingbemusedface · 22/01/2018 21:12

The Morrison’s salt and pepper rolls are incredible- so so salty but so gooood

ApproachingATunnel · 22/01/2018 21:13

Olive bread or the dark triangles with lots of seeds.. I could live in the bakery section, mind you i’d be some 3 stones heavier if I followed my tastebudsGrin

MadeinBelfast · 22/01/2018 21:19

I guess we're lucky @Dwangelaforever, we'll always have Veda 😉

PurpleDaisies · 22/01/2018 21:20

The Morrison’s salt and pepper rolls are incredible- so so salty but so
good

Also their salt and pepper bloomer.

"Sod that lidls chocolate chip cookies in the fresh bakery counter bit. Oh ehm gee"

DS loves those cookies but I think recently our lidl has stopped actually cooking them. The chocolate chips aren't melted even a little bit and the cookies have raw doughy bits.

I'm tempted to tweet them and see if I can end up baking cookies on a advert.

halfwitpicker · 22/01/2018 21:23

Low carbing are we?

DwangelaForever · 22/01/2018 21:25

@halfwitpicker no just low breading - slimming world! I can have all the carbs I want in the form of rice pasta and noodles just not bread 💔

We are spoilt for value German supermarkets here. I usually frequent Aldi but if I happen to venture to Lidl I have to summon up every inch of will power to keep walking through the bakery aisle. My god it is calorific carb filled heaven. And they sell morning rolls.

Hygge · 22/01/2018 21:32

Not the supermarket, or bakery, but this thread made me think about that salted liquorice chocolate they used to sell in Ikea.

Have they stopped selling it? The last two visits we made were only so I could buy that chocolate were a bit disappointing because they didn't have any in the shop at the end.

Fekko · 22/01/2018 21:36

Can I just add that shoppers who generally molest/squeeze/sniff/poke/sneeze over the uncovered bread should be whipped naked through the streets with stale 🥖?
