I realise this isn't and AIBU but I have four kids and a dog, DH is away and my bloody washing machine has broken down!

Can anyone recommend a large (at least 10kg) machine with a quick wash? I have to order ASAP, my wash basket is exploding.
To top it off the dog just rolled in fox poo, days like his make me want to go back to workConfused

Another vote for Bosch here

BlurryFace · 22/01/2018 15:10

ValleyClouds, we rented a place with a Hotpoint washer dryer and it really was total shit, my clothes come out dryer from a spin cycle in my Hotpoint washer! Though from what I understand Hotpoint isn't a very reliable brand anyway.

testpickles · 22/01/2018 15:19

Happy with our Samsung machine also, very reliable and deserves a medal!🏅

Whitecurrants · 22/01/2018 15:19

I really like my Samsung Addwash with the little door to add extras after the wash has started

trixymalixy · 22/01/2018 15:21

DON't GET AN LG!!!

I had one and it was a total lemon. Look on the mumsnet reviews and there are loads with the same issue.

I now have a cheap and cheerful Zanussi Lindo. I'm quite pleased with it. It can wash a king sized duvet.

Queeniebed · 22/01/2018 15:23

I use AO and always go for BEKO - all my white goods are now this and they have never broken down on me. I only sold my 5 year old washing machine as one came with the new house.

Queeniebed · 22/01/2018 15:23

Good value and reliable

ValleyClouds · 22/01/2018 15:24

Yes @Blurry mines a rental property, so I can't change it, even a Fastwash takes hours

missmouse101 · 22/01/2018 15:28

LG very good indeed. Appliances online (AO) are great to deliver it pronto!

VivaLeBeaver · 22/01/2018 15:30

I have an eco bubble which I like but I wish I’d got the 1600 spin not the 1400. Had a 1600 before and really notice the difference.

beautifulgirls · 22/01/2018 15:32

I'm a Bosch convert after having another brand that lasted for years and years. I have had my Bosch about 2 years now and absolutely love it. It does a great job and is easy. Not a top of their range model either but has a good volume drum and suits a busy family of 5 plus pets with the amount of washing we have. I have a separate Bosch drier which I also love. (and a Bosch dishwasher!)

mummmy2017 · 22/01/2018 15:33

I got the one with a 15min quick wash for 1 or 2 items, and 60 min wash fr everyday.. love it, worth looking to see if you get this on one's you look at.
Also do you have room for 2, as the smaller wash sizes are quiet cheap in the sales.

MagicWillHappen · 22/01/2018 15:34

Don't get a Candy/Hoover one. My current washing machine is a Candy and is by far the worse washing machine I have ever had. The only reason it is still here is it is insured. It breaks down on average every 3 months

I had a Hoover Candy until just before Christmas and had the same - multiple errors and breakdowns.

We also had the cover on it and in November the tumble dryer stopped working for the third time that year...I phoned the insurance providers and complained and they agreed that it had become 'uneconomical to repair'...I had a brand new one delivered two days later. This one is a different brand and so much better.

Call the insurance provider and make a fuss...I didn't even have to complain that much iyswim, it was one twenty minute call.

notsohippychick · 22/01/2018 15:39

Miele!!! Bit pricey but they are amazing!!

SargeantAngua · 22/01/2018 16:49

We have an 8 kg AEG protex that is great - 'time saver' function to speed up most of the cycles is really useful.

lynmilne65 · 22/01/2018 16:54

just bought an indesit cheapo,?is brilliant

lynmilne65 · 22/01/2018 16:55

and from a.o. com

trixymalixy · 22/01/2018 16:55

LG reviews

extinctspecies · 22/01/2018 16:56

Always had a Miele. Well worth the cost.

c3pu · 22/01/2018 16:57

LG washer here, been faultless for about 3 years and I love it!

I remember when I was looking for a new washer the general rule of thumb was, regardless of the brand, that good machines start at about £500 - and to get one that comes with a 5 year warranty.

TheFairyCaravan · 22/01/2018 17:02

We've got a Bosch.

Don't buy a Hotpoint Aqualtis. Ours was awful. It got to the point where I knew how the engineer took his tea and he didn't need to ask directions to our loo. They wrote it off in the end.

DarthArts · 22/01/2018 17:05

I have a Miele and it's fabulous. Huge variety of programs (including allergy wash, waterproofing, duvets etc etc).

Also has its own cartridge detergents which though pricy to buy work out less expensive per wash than previous brands and means your not pfaffing around with putting washing powder in. You can also buy special individual pods for stains, outdoor clothing, silks, waterproofing etc

That said it wasn't cheap but it's been brilliant. DS has eczema (I bought it for the allergy wash) and it's definitely helped.

It's got a 1 hour quick wash and a 20 min speed wash.

DH re-proofed some outdoor clothing with it and it was great.

Els1e · 22/01/2018 17:09

I’ve got a BEKO and like it but I know some people are not so keen. My mum has got an Indesit and is constantly having problems but could be just unlucky.

allthgoodusernamesaretaken · 22/01/2018 17:11

Zanussi here. If possible, I'd avoid a cheap brand. It's a false economy and a PITA when they break down

biscuiteater · 22/01/2018 17:34

John Lewis own brand, been excellent and they give an extra year guarantee on their own products.
