To find fearne cotton annoying

She's promoting a stress book at the moment that is probably ghostwritten. She then goes on about how she's written children's books, cookery books, designed fashion ranges, presented TV and radio all while being a mum.

She's hardly dedicated herself to one craft and probably has minimal input to each of the projects she has put her name to. The only thing I can actually comment on is the presenting and she's pretty dire at that.

Just seems like a sad world where you can get all these opportunities thanks to nepotism and fame. They no doubt take away chances from actual writers or designers.

Radio 1 kept Jo whiley on until she was 44 before transitioning to radio 2. So how are people supposed to believe FC was kicked out at 36 for being too old? Doubt age was anything to do with it.

"Yet another thread by a woman having a pop at another woman she knows nothing about".
Don't be ridiculous, so we should only have a pop at male celebs?, and what do you mean "we know nothing about"? she's in the public eye isn't she, of course we know stuff about her. Isn't that what celebs do, make sure we know all about them? Are all female celebs only to be talked about in a gushing fawning way, just because they're female? Confused

SinglePringle · 22/01/2018 22:59

Because Jo went around the same time / under the same controller of Radio One as Fearne. And because - and believe / don’t believe - I have had this on very good authority. The best.

Anyway, carry on being unpleasant about someone you don’t know. I’m out.

iskegness · 22/01/2018 23:04

I know plenty about this and you know little. Fearne came in as jo's replacement and was in the role for 6-7 years. Not the same time at all! Whatever authority you have this on is total shit.

single She's a celeb, what do you mean, "someone you don't know", isn't the whole idea of celebs that we do know them, the parts of them they want us to know anyway. Of course we'll have an opinion of them. They make a lot of money out of putting themselves in the public eye. For heavens sake can we not be critical of celebs.

TheDailyMailLovesTheEUReally · 23/01/2018 07:34

Righto. Do tell us all about your insider view.

iskegness · 23/01/2018 08:08

I'm not outing myself. Just outing single and her bullshit saying they were pushed out at the same time when it was 7 years apart.

Ofgs leave off. She still gets up at 5.30am with her kids and does all the usual 'mum' stuff and then does some paid for work, often projects which have been brought to her via a third party. So what?? Is she a cunt? I doubt it but if anyone knows her personally please do let us know.

She's a woman in a man's world working and raising a family. Does she have help? Yes! I say great to that. Why shouldn't she?

Good luck to her!

Sirzy · 23/01/2018 08:23

I have just read her “happy” book. I don’t care too much if she wrote every word or she had help for me it was a book which clicked and spoke sense.

Don’t like it? Don’t read it

Don’t like her? Don’t watch things with her in

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 23/01/2018 08:28

I’m not going to buy her book, (or indeed any of those ‘celeb’ recipe/fitness/mum books), but I don’t begrudge her giving it a go. I used to find her pretty annoying for reasons I can’t qualify, but I listened to a podcast she was on recently and she came across well. It probably didn’t hurt that she knew someone in the entertainment business, but she’d have had to have been ok to continue.

*grandfathers cousin

I don't think posative sexism is particularly helpful.

By the same vein if you don't like a slagging off thread don't open/comment on it. This site was largely built on slagging off mr "I love my kids" Grin

You mean there was an occasional thread about Peter Andre? Confused

Strongmummy · 23/01/2018 09:05

I hate her , Alexa Chung and their male equivalent Nick Grimshaw. Talentless idiots

missedthememo1 · 23/01/2018 09:15

I don’t have much of an opinion on Fearne, used to enjoy her & Reggie as a duo but I’ve not kept up with any of Fearne’s later stuff eg books etc however I won’t knock her for trying.

One thing I’ve found interesting though is the idea we shouldn’t be critical of celebs. Obviously bullying is a no no but I often switch the TV on & will take the piss out of Piers Morgan, Posh Spice, Wills & Kate or even just a random before switching over. Granted I wouldn’t start a thread about them but I might comment on one. You cannot be in the public eye & expect everyone to like you.

iskegness · 23/01/2018 09:17

On mn it's mum celebs that many say we shouldn't critique. It's fine to be critical of guys, but women and mums are strictly off limits Confused

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2018 09:20

I have seen a mixture of threads over the years on MN, I think a lot of slebs both male and female have had critcism on here TBH.

Sometimes the threads get deleted because posters go a little too far in their criticism.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/01/2018 09:20

Her agent got her a contract so she will have to write so many books other celebs have them Holly on parenting and so on

While her book maybe helpful I found her to lack self awareness when interviewed. i understood her point that someone in her position people often couldn’t understand why she suffered from depression as she had it all yet they could say someone who was struggling with money didn’t have the life she had but what those women don’t get is a voice or a book deal their voices are not heard but we are hearing about many celebrities who are of have struggled with depression

IJustLostTheGame · 23/01/2018 09:24

I think her books are pants.
I think her fashion sense is brave and I admire that but too clashy.
She is irritating on the telly.
I wish I could do yoga like her.
I shall her on Instagram and want to be her friend.

springtulip · 23/01/2018 11:08

People have criticised celebs since the year dot, both male and female. How boring not to.

Strongmummy · 24/01/2018 09:14

The main issue I have with celebs writing books on cooking, depression etc.....is that 1) they’re not qualified to do so and have been approached by a publisher because of their name 2) they’re stopping genuinely knowledgeable and talented individuals getting a look in. I admire someone like Ruby Wax who, is a great talent anyway, and after years of suffering from depression retrained as a psychotherapist and has written intelligent and insightful books of mental health. Of course her name got her the deal, but she has the qualification to back it up.
